Day 2 of Shoptalk Europe was another fantastic day! Here are a few highlights: Bubble's Bonnie Szucs succeeded in pushing the boundaries of the concept of unified commerce, completely redefining shared understanding and challenging whether it actually exists. As is often the case, we have much to learn from disruptor brands. Ocado Group's Gregor Ulitzka stressed the importance of shopper data and insights. Do you genuinely understand your shoppers?! And if you do, how does this inform your strategy? bp's David Pitron made some bold predictions about how EVs are changing the use of forecourt facilities…and how it will change again when battery capacity improves. BP is a retailer thinking about the future in the face of seismic operational and commercial changes. Shoptalk's own Ben Miller and Rebecca Bemhena presented four factors that will reshape retail: AI, Next-Gen Customer Journeys, Brand Power, and Unlocking Unified Commerce. We just need to agree on what unified commerce is and whether it actually exists... Procter & Gamble's R Alexandra Keith shared a brilliant Head & Shoulders case study about reformulating products to attract new shoppers into the category - all based on customer data and directive insights. Mars Petcare Deri Watkins covered much ground and shared many thought-provoking comments, but most interesting was his mention of social commerce as an area the business recognises as a channel for growth and one it will be heavily investing more in. Waitrose & Partners' Laura Burbedge gave a refreshingly honest perspective on how quick commerce partnerships are primarily about introducing the brand to new shoppers and how this feeds the business's overall strategy for future shopper loyalty. Five weeks ago we had for the first time a global townhall with everyone in the room. Beside looking back and celebrating past achievements we shared the strategy for the next years and talked a lot about building customer relationships with key accounts or how AI will change nearly every business function. Today a lot of our teams are working to implement everything Key Account customers with 100s of outlets need to streamline their procurement from customised webshops to monthly invoices and easy payment. And in Q1 we will onboard the first partner. We rolled out several co-Pilot functionalities to our teams to increase productivity and implemented several test cases around content creation and picture creation and a lot more will come.
