🏈 How much did you spend on the Superbowl this year? 💸 Americans will spend $17.3 Billion. 80% of that will go to food & drinks, and the rest toward decorations, apparel, and other Superbowl goods - according to the National Retail Federation. 🍻 That includes $1 Billion just for beer during the game itself! The average person will spend $86. That's a pretty pricey event!! For entertainment cost comparison's sake... 🏈 $123 = the average cost of a date in America, according to moneygeek.com 🏈 $24 = the average cost of two movie tickets in America 🏈 $194 = the cost of a peak day at a Disney park in 2023 🏈 $284 = the cost of a single day lift ticket at Vail 🏈 $110 = the cost of a single day lift ticket at Ski Apache (haven't heard of it? just ask my El Paso friends...Ruidoso is where it's at....although this is WAY more pricey than I remember from 1995!) 🏈 $35 = the average cost per vehicle to enter a national park 🏈 $8600 = the average cost to actually GO to the Superbowl this year! Friends, "Well look Ronald, if you're going to stick to your guts on this then give us our portion of the pie. We want no parts of this, like we said we're fine where we're at." Two decades and three years later 1. Ronald McDonald serves 1% of the worlds population daily (74million) and 20% of those daily sales include toys (14.8million per day). 2. Ronald is the largest toy distributor in the world. In 1992 with his friends Ronald had 12,700 McDonalds locations world wide. Today Ronald has over 36,000. It took Ronald 20+ years of belief, hard work, commitment, dedication, perseverance, obstacles (other fast food chains, economic recession and a global push for healthier food products in fast food chains among other things) none the less his goal was not only achieved but surpassed. Representatives in Warwick, Rhode Island reached out to Costco to shop for a spot in the state. Super Bowl I's ticket prices were a mere $12 and the event did not sell out. Meanwhile, securing tickets today is almost unheard of. The cheapest resale tickets to this year's Super Bowl started around $6,000, with the most expensive tickets nearing $100,000. Believe in your dream, your calling, and, most of all, yourself. It’s going to be hard, humbling, and terrifying. Turn into those feelings. Use them as positive energy and motivation. Never allow the critic to define or control you. Be willing to accept the triumph of high achievement. Likewise, be willing to accept defeat. But live, embrace, and love life. There will be bad days, disappointing meetings, you will make mistakes, people will let you down and lie to you. There will be brilliant days, successful meetings, you will do great things, people will support you and show you kindness. Either way, get in the arena. Stand up for what you believe in, fight for your people, advance your issue, and most of all…make sure they remember, *forever*, the cause and people you believe in and are fighting for. Leave no doubt!

My University of Virginia Wahoos may have already disappointed me, but as a die-hard college basketball fan, who once had a starring turn on ESPN's College Game Day, I had a lot of fun reporting this story for Inc. Magazine about how businesses are gearing up for one of the most beloved and chaotic sporting events of the year with team-themed drink specials, takeout wing deals, and watch parties. For entrepreneurs, the next three weeks will serve up more than highlight reels. With tens of millions of people expected to tune in and fill out brackets, the big dance offers a major opportunity for businesses to boost brand awareness and sales - especially with the massive growth of the women's game. If the Super Bowl is a holiday for the food and beverage industry, the NCAA tournament is more like a festival--lasting several weeks and giving businesses a more enduring bump, says Columbia Business School adjunct professor Stephen Zagor, who has owned multiple restaurants and consults for restaurants and food businesses. "This is where they get more customers, more revenue, and hopefully more profits," he adds. "They look all year for this kind of opportunity." His advice to entrepreneurs: stock up now on inventory, because this month is going to be "their business triple double."
