According to the new Global Whisky Market Overview, 2023-28 report by Bonafide Research, the whiskey category is set to reach $127 billion by 2028. The category is expanding at a CAGR of 6.34% According to the report, Asia-Pacific has evolved as one of the most exciting regions for whiskey, with India showing a particularly huge amount of affinity for the spirit. That follows a tripling of imports, with Japanese whisky imports increasing from $18.4 to $67.4 million between 2015 and 2020. Alongside the market’s growth, there’s been a number of new entrants — like like Kaiyo, Kanosuke, and Akkeshi — to the category capitalizing on the interest. Scotch continues to be the most preferred whiskey from consumers, though there’s a growing inclination towards flavored whiskies. According to Vantage Market Research, the global flavored whiskey market is now valued at $27.9 billion in 2022, and expected to reach a value of $47.1 billion by 2030. When Scotch isn't really 'Scotch'. It's the part of Scotch Whisky Industry that we're not told about. Bulk. It's not just in Japan. Most of the Scotch we export to India is also sent there 'in bulk' to make a hybrid Indian/Scotch Whisky that's tremendously popular there. Big plastic vats. Not nearly as photogenic! Scotch makes up 25% of ALL UK Food and Drink Exports and were not really told all about it, precisely because of this. Bulk. It's huge, 77% of Scotlands Food and Drink Exports, dwarfing every other Scottish Food and Drink thing, even Salmon. It's many, many times bigger than this! It's one of the many aspects of Scotch Whisky that the Scotch Whisky Association doesn't like to talk about! Don't worry, I tell you about all the others. As I don't work for a Distilling behemoth, I can talk freely about this! #ScotchWhiskyTruths

Indian Whisky is ALREADY competing with Scotch Whisky. Diageo makes a lot of Scotch Whisky. it also makes a lot of Indian Whisky. It's why we need a collective approach, not trusting the future of Scotch Whisky to just any one conglomerate. #ScotchWhiskyTruths

💪🏾 Sanjeev Banga, President of International Business at Radico Khaitan Limited, says it well: "In the same sense that New World wines are now competing with traditional regions and are considered premium like their traditional counterparts, I don’t see why Indian single malts won’t transform in the same way." 👀 Bemakers, with a broad range of innovative craft spirits from all over the world available for the on- and off-trade on its Bemakers Trade platform, strongly agrees that there is a keen interest in 'new world' craft spirits. With a generally strong sense of brand awareness, consumers and the on- and off-trade are more and more looking for spirits innovation. 🗺 As the distribution partner, Bemakers provides a gateway into the European market that can strengthen Radico Khaitan Limited's existing European efforts and we are eager to make this premium Indian single malt accessible to consumers across Europe. 📰👉🏾 Read The Spirits Business article in full here: https://lnkd.in/dKFCZrx5 #indiansinglemalt #directtoconsumer #gatewaytoeurope #bemakers

TLDR: For the first time in 30 years US spirits saw its volume decrease (-2%) and alcohol sales declined globally by -1%. In 2023 every major #alcohol category declined, except #tequila, some American #whiskey segments and #RTDs (ready-to-drink). This is the "Age of Agave" which will add the most incremental value to the US spirits market by 2028. Meanwhile, #nonalcoholic ‘spirits’ soared by 15% in volume last year and IWSR noted that "NO-ALCOHOL IS THE ONLY CATEGORY WITH POSITIVE MOMENTUM", led by an increase in #moderating and #sobercurious drinkers in markets, including India, China, the UK, and the US. (Seems like good timing for a #nonalcholic #agave #RTD like Parch Spirits Co ❤️ 🌵 Rodolfo (Rudy) Aldana https://lnkd.in/ezKykFH9

I found myself doing a double-take when reading this article; the 29% growth in non-alcoholic spirits since the start of 2024 is eye-catching. While overall spirits volumes dropped by 3% in the US, and alcohol-free spirits remain a small part of the alcohol-free sector compared to beer and cider—81% of servings—this growth highlights real potential. Will we see efforts to create new or refine flavors, enhance packaging, or expand distribution? There’s certainly a unique opportunity for brands to shape the future of this category. https://lnkd.in/eBdt63xy

How delicious is alcohol-free We recently talked about trends and it goes without saying that (an excess of) alcohol is not part of the healthy lifestyle that we like to pursue nowadays. So the question arises: how tasty is alcohol-free? A frequently heard opinion is that wine has no body. But to what extent is this true? We will find out through a varied tasting of a number of renowned brands. To start with, non-alcoholic wine is not always completely without alcohol. A winemaker may put alcohol-free on the label if the wine contains less than 0.5% alcohol. So good to know when you are pregnant or teetotal. Non-alcoholic wine is wine that is made according to the normal process, but in which the ethanol, responsible for alcohol, is distilled from the wine via an industrial process such as reverse osmosis. This may cause it to smell and taste different. A commonly heard difference is the lack or reduction of body, the mouthfeel of wine. With reverse osmosis, the wine presses at full force against a membrane, causing the alcohol and water to separate from the rest of the wine. The alcohol is removed from the water by distillation (heating), after which the dealcoholized water is recombined with the rest of the wine. By the way, to make wine you need roughly 16 grams of sugar per liter of must to increase the alcohol by 1%. Would you like to know the results of the tasting? Read more here https://lnkd.in/e52EGNq4
