To begin with, let's quite literally reduce the use of plastic not just the bags but the tiniest of the wrappers and leaflets as well. Next up care about your pets and see it make enough of a difference in this world, if the question ‘HOW’ arises in your head then hear me out , firecrackers are harmful for pets use them less, plastic and microplastics hamper their health so reduce its use. Furthermore opt for the alternatives like sustainable bags of jute or cloth , want to celebrate then use candles and diyas , maybe use your smile to make it more friendly and eco friendly. Be a part of sustainability in practice to further explore this sustainable living.

It always seems impossible until it's done. They are missing the point. Working with clients who embark on their sustainability journeys a transformation takes place. Firstly, there is the realisation that they CAN make a difference. Secondly, there is a transformation from wanting to make a difference to ACTUALLY realising they can make a difference. Thirdly the two points above lead to innovations of how to do business better. Sustainability when handled appropriately is good for the planet but also good for business. We are also thrilled to unveil the newest cohort of changemakers participating in the 2024 MENA Changemakers for the Planet Programme supported by Apple. These 31 young changemakers (21 nationalities represented from 14 countries, with 52% self-identifying as men and 48% as women) are dedicated to addressing the pressing challenges of our planet, including biodiversity loss, climate change, and pollution. The planetary crisis disproportionately affects society’s most at-risk individuals and regions. We are putting a strong emphasis on curating cohorts that are representative and diverse in terms of demographics and types of initiatives. DAVOS24: JBS CEO Gilberto Tomazoni highlights the importance of global initiatives such as the WEF First Movers Coalition for Food and the centrality of farmers - people - to the sustainable food systems transition. “We need to unite forces because this is one of the challenges we need to solve together, among society, the public sector, and the private sector. It is a fact that we need to feed the global population and reduce greenhouse gas emissions. 𝐒𝐔𝐒𝐓𝐀𝐈𝐍𝐀𝐁𝐈𝐋𝐈𝐓𝐘 𝐋𝐄𝐀𝐃𝐄𝐑𝐒 The 𝐆𝐥𝐨𝐛𝐞𝐒𝐜𝐚𝐧 / 𝐒𝐮𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐢𝐧𝐀𝐛𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐈𝐧𝐬𝐭𝐢𝐭𝐮𝐭𝐞 𝐛𝐲 𝐄𝐑𝐌 𝐬𝐮𝐫𝐯𝐞𝐲 captures the perceptions of #sustainability experts globally on which organizations are considered to be sustainability leaders. In order to provide input for this report’s preparation, 520 qualified sustainability experts completed an online questionnaire from 13 March to 7 May, 2023.   1️⃣𝒔𝒕 𝑲𝑬𝒀 𝑭𝑰𝑵𝑫𝑰𝑵𝑮 Experts stay consistently highly concerned about almost all sustainability challenges, rating most issues as increasingly urgent. Important issues include, a.o.  ◾️ #climatechange, biodiversity loss,  ◾️ water scarcity, deforestation,  ◾️ poverty, #foodsecurity,  ◾️ water pollution, #plastic #waste,  ◾️ economic inequality, access to quality education.   2️⃣𝒏𝒅 𝑲𝑬𝒀 𝑭𝑰𝑵𝑫𝑰𝑵𝑮 According to experts, the most significant catalysts for the sustainability agenda over the last year, in addition to e.g. increased green / #sustainable #investing (#investment) & business commitments, were:  ◾️ the new sustainability legislation (U.S. Inflation Reduction Act, EU Green Deal…),  ◾️ improved disclosure & reporting standards (e.g. EU Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive – CSRD), and  ◾️ the COP15 biodiversity agreement (Kunming-Montréal Global #Biodiversity Framework).   3️⃣𝒓𝒅 𝑲𝑬𝒀 𝑭𝑰𝑵𝑫𝑰𝑵𝑮 World Wildlife Fund (WWF) and Greenpeace continues to be the most widely recognized NGOs for their contribution to #sustainabledevelopment:  ◾️ mostly due to their activities such as collaboration & stakeholder management, and  ◾️ to some extent also because of their activism & advocacy.   4️⃣𝒕𝒉 𝑲𝑬𝒀 𝑭𝑰𝑵𝑫𝑰𝑵𝑮 The top-ranked corporate sustainability leaders in 2023, in order, are: Patagonia, Unilever (first ranked in 2022, second-ranked this year), IKEA, Natura&Co, Microsoft, Interface, Ørsted, Danone, Google, Nestlé and Schneider Electric.   5️⃣𝒕𝒉 𝑲𝑬𝒀 𝑭𝑰𝑵𝑫𝑰𝑵𝑮 Experts consider the two strongest drivers of recognized corporate leadership:  ◾️ the sustainable #businessmodels (i.e. placing sustainability at the very core of the business model) and  ◾️ the evidence of tangible #impact & action.   6️⃣𝒕𝒉 𝑲𝑬𝒀 𝑭𝑰𝑵𝑫𝑰𝑵𝑮 As an inevitable sign of increasing maturity & awareness worldwide, a diverse range of regional corporate sustainability leaders started to emerge, including:  ◾️ Safaricom (Africa, Middle East),  ◾️ Unilever (Europe),  ◾️ Natura&Co (Latin America),  ◾️ Patagonia (North America),  ◾️ Mahindra & Mahindra, Tata and City Developments Ltd. Davos 2024: The future of sustainable business is 'regeneration Summary: At the 2024 World Economic Forum in Davos, a key theme emerged: the future of sustainable business is shifting from mere resilience to 'regeneration.' This concept involves rethinking and reinventing business models and practices to proactively create a positive environmental impact, rather than merely mitigating risks. The urgency of this shift is underscored by increasing public awareness and concern over climate change, with surveys indicating a significant belief in the responsibility of large businesses and corporations to address climate issues. The effects of climate change, such as extreme weather events, are already impacting businesses globally, as noted by 97% of global executives in a 2022 Deloitte survey who have experienced negative consequences like supply chain disruptions. Gim Huay Neo, managing director of the World Economic Forum Geneva, emphasized the need for new economic models and lifestyles that can sustain growth and profits without depleting natural resources. Richard Forrest, global head of sustainability at Kearney, defines this approach as regeneration - creating a positive impact rather than just avoiding a negative one. Patagonia is highlighted as a leading example, adopting practices like using recycled cotton or cotton grown through regenerative organic methods. The consumer goods industry is moving closer to a regenerative approach, partly driven by government regulations and a significant shift in consumer expectations towards sustainable products. This change in consumer behavior is influencing companies to adopt more sustainable practices for both ethical and business reasons. However, transitioning to resilience and regeneration poses challenges. Bob Sternfels, global managing partner at McKinsey & Company US, revealed that only 16% of global leaders feel prepared in terms of resilience, yet embracing it could add up to 15% to global GDP. Jesper Brodin, CEO of the Ingka Group (Ikea), underlined the necessity of this transformation. He questioned the viability of future business models based on the depletion of natural resources, acknowledging the difficulty of transition but stressing its inevitability for sustainable growth. 𝗗𝗼 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗸𝗻𝗼𝘄 𝘄𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗦𝗗𝗚𝘀 𝗮𝗿𝗲? SDGs (Sustainable Development Goals) are a collection of 17 global goals established by the United Nations in 2015, aimed at ending poverty, protecting the planet, and ensuring prosperity for all by 2030. Each goal has specific targets and indicators to track progress. Here's a brief explanation of each SDG and an example of an entrepreneurship project that has contributed to achieving it: 𝗡𝗼 𝗣𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘁𝘆: End poverty in all forms. 𝗭𝗲𝗿𝗼 𝗛𝘂𝗻𝗴𝗲𝗿: End hunger, achieve food security, and promote sustainable agriculture. Example: Twiga Foods in Kenya, aims to reduce food waste and improve food distribution. 𝗚𝗼𝗼𝗱 𝗛𝗲𝗮𝗹𝘁𝗵 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗪𝗲𝗹𝗹-𝗯𝗲𝗶𝗻𝗴: Ensure healthy lives and promote well-being for all. Example: Zipline uses drones to deliver medical supplies to remote areas, improving healthcare access. 𝗤𝘂𝗮𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗘𝗱𝘂𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻: Ensure inclusive and equitable education for all. 𝗚𝗲𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗿 𝗘𝗾𝘂𝗮𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘆: Achieve gender equality and empower all women and girls. 𝗖𝗹𝗲𝗮𝗻 𝗪𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗦𝗮𝗻𝗶𝘁𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻: Ensure availability of water and sanitation for all. 𝗔𝗳𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗱𝗮𝗯𝗹𝗲 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗖𝗹𝗲𝗮𝗻 𝗘𝗻𝗲𝗿𝗴𝘆: Ensure access to affordable, reliable, and modern energy. 𝗗𝗲𝗰𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗪𝗼𝗿𝗸 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗘𝗰𝗼𝗻𝗼𝗺𝗶𝗰 𝗚𝗿𝗼𝘄𝘁𝗵: Promote sustained, inclusive economic growth, and decent work for all. 𝗜𝗻𝗱𝘂𝘀𝘁𝗿𝘆, 𝗜𝗻𝗻𝗼𝘃𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗜𝗻𝗳𝗿𝗮𝘀𝘁𝗿𝘂𝗰𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲: Build resilient infrastructure and promote innovation. Example: Zipline is also relevant here for creating a network of drone delivery services. 𝗥𝗲𝗱𝘂𝗰𝗲𝗱 𝗜𝗻𝗲𝗾𝘂𝗮𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘆: Reduce inequality within and among countries. 𝗦𝘂𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗶𝗻𝗮𝗯𝗹𝗲 𝗖𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗲𝘀 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗺𝘂𝗻𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗲𝘀: Make cities inclusive, safe, resilient, and sustainable. 𝗥𝗲𝘀𝗽𝗼𝗻𝘀𝗶𝗯𝗹𝗲 𝗖𝗼𝗻𝘀𝘂𝗺𝗽𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗱𝘂𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻: Ensure sustainable consumption and production patterns. Example: Too Good To Go connects consumers with surplus food from restaurants and supermarkets. 𝗖𝗹𝗶𝗺𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝗔𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻: Take urgent action to combat climate change. Example: Tesla has been a leader in developing electric vehicles, reducing reliance on fossil fuels. 𝗟𝗶𝗳𝗲 𝗕𝗲𝗹𝗼𝘄 𝗪𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗿: Conserve oceans, seas, and marine resources. Example: The Ocean Cleanup project works to remove plastic waste from oceans. 𝗟𝗶𝗳𝗲 𝗼𝗻 𝗟𝗮𝗻𝗱: Protect, restore, and promote the sustainable use of ecosystems. Example: Ecosia, a search engine that plants trees with its ad revenue. 𝗣𝗲𝗮𝗰𝗲, 𝗝𝘂𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗰𝗲, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗦𝘁𝗿𝗼𝗻𝗴 𝗜𝗻𝘀𝘁𝗶𝘁𝘂𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀: Promote peaceful and inclusive societies. 𝗣𝗮𝗿𝘁𝗻𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗵𝗶𝗽𝘀 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗚𝗼𝗮𝗹𝘀: Strengthen global partnerships for sustainable development.
