I am #FISERVProud that my company has been named a 2024 "Best Place to Work for Disability Inclusion" by Disability:IN and American Association of People with Disabilities, earning a top score for the third consecutive year. The Disability Equality Index is globally recognized as the most robust assessment tool for Disability Inclusion, advancing employment for persons with disabilities and helping companies build long-term value. Our Disability Associate Council, Thrive ERG, has done a phenomenal job advocating for equality, inclusion, and participation for associates with disabilities and caregivers. While we celebrate this achievement, there is still work to be done. In the US, self-identification of disability is at just 4%. We need to empower both new and seasoned associates to self-identify and advocate for themselves. This means creating an environment where everyone feels comfortable seeking accommodations without fear of being targeted. Let's continue to hold our executives accountable for fostering retention and advancement programs focused on associates with disabilities, providing meaningful wellness benefits that extend beyond the EAP, and ensuring a culture of support and inclusion. Amtrak celebrates Disability Pride Month this July! We commemorate, honor, and recognize the achievements, resilience, and unique contributions of people with disabilities – our colleagues, customers, and those within our communities. This month, we also commemorate the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) signed into law on July 26, 1990, which was enacted to combat discrimination based on disabilities. International Day of People with Disability is held every year on the 3rd of December. In Australia, #IDPwD promotes awareness, understanding and inclusion of the diverse community of 4.4 million people with disability. The 2023 theme for IDPwD is 'United in action to rescue and achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) for, with and by persons with disabilities.' The SDGs are 17 things countries want to work on by the year 2030 to make the world better and fairer for everyone. In 2024, Disability:IN experienced a record number of participating companies in the Disability Equality Index®.
