One of the greatest learnings I've had from my time with the Responsible Marketing Agency is that good things can happen when brands collaborate. There is much positive progress being driven in the industry - from the Unstereotype Alliance's efforts to end harmful stereotypes in media and advertising content, to ISBA's Accessibility Alliance, working to make all advertising accessible to those that live with hearing and visual impairments, and Ad Net Zero driving a collective industry response to the climate emergency. What is most disappointing about last weeks news is that it sends a message that industry collaboration isn't acceptable. The work conducted by GARM and the brilliant Rob Rakowitz helped create a brand safety standard that brands could build from (i.e. 'the GARM floor'), and the industry used it's collective to demand positive change from the largest platforms that dominate the media ecosystem. When working on the media agency side, I saw the positive effects of this collaboration first hand post-Christchurch, the attempts to remove disinformation during the pandemic, and the during the lead-up to and fall out from the Jan 6th riots. Brands need to continue to work together to push for positive progress. From helping to find new ways to decarbonise advertising activity, to improving cross-platform media measurement (thank you to WFA's Halo), to championing and funding women's sport programming, and the ongoing push for inventory quality, the reduction of ad-fraud - and, yes, even brand safety. #media #marketing #brandsafety #adfraud #misinformation #disinformation #advertising #sustainability

The Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity came to an end last week. It is considered the largest gathering of the advertising and creative communications industry. All the winning case studies were incredibly impressive, and we extend a big congratulations to all the winners. We asked some of our staff members about their favourite case studies, and Realeboga Petlele mentioned that hers was the Pedigree’s Adoptable campaign by Colenso BBDO. This is what she had to say: “I was so impressed by how cleverly AI was used to drive such change. The ability to turn digital data into dynamic outdoor ads and get dogs adopted was extraordinary. The campaign didn't just use technology for technology's sake—it had a real, tangible impact. Watching people see a dog in need of a home and adopt that pet in real time was incredibly moving. It showcased how we can harness digital innovation to create meaningful, real-world outcomes.
