Inspiring a love of reading goes beyond the pages of a book – it's about fostering a lifelong passion for learning. In March, our team donated over 600 books for our Read to Succeed drive supporting Big Brothers Big Sisters of Atlantic and Cape May Counties, making a positive impact on the lives of local children and young adults.

1 in 4 children leave primary school unable to read at the expected standard. 25%. Just let that sink in. Being able to read confidently is life changing. Education is the gateway to everything, not just higher education and employment but responding to job advert, understanding an employment contract or credit agreement, reading the small print on medication, just understanding basic travel timetables. So many things many of us take for granted but things that put insurmountable barriers in the way for others. 1 in 7 adults today are functionally illiterate. Adults with poor literacy skills aren't just more likely to be unemployed or in low-paid jobs, there is also a causal link between low levels of literacy and shorter life expectancy, depression and obesity, with some regions having a life expectancy 26years less than literate counterparts. £50 donated this week with The Big Give will double to £100 and will provide 2 children with an entire years support of one-to-one reading through Schoolreaders volunteers. Simple. But life changing. Dig deep if you can. #literacymatters #thebiggive #donate
One in four children leave primary school unable to read to the expected standard. Without reading skills, a child is denied the gateway to learning. They cannot access their secondary education fully and their job and life opportunities will be diminished. That's why Schoolreaders is here to help children learn to read. With 1,000 schools, 2,000 volunteers & 20,000 children reading every single week, we're changing the story of children's literacy. £50 will provide one child with an entire year of one to one reading support in school, and this week that amount can be doubled via The Big Give If you are planning to donate to Schoolreaders this Christmas, please do so between now and December 5th, and your gift will make twice the impact. Rare insights into the views of parents regarding children's school attendance. It's so key to listen to and foreground these voices alongside those of children and young people, and schools themselves, to understand the issues in the round. Great stuff from the team at School-Home Support and partners Khulisa, Impetus - Backing the best and Public First, whose study and report will be invaluable in helping us gain a deeper understanding of the situation, how things have changed in a post-lockdown world, and what we can do to make positive change. Read the report below. #EducationMatters #ParentalPerspectives #educationforall #schoolhomesupport #attendance
The voices of parents matter when it comes to education, and we need to listen closely to what they're saying. A recent study carried out by Public First and commissioned by a coalition of education charities School-Home Support, Khulisa and Impetus - Backing the best, revealed a profound breakdown in parental attitudes towards full-time school attendance in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic. Read the full report to gain a deeper understanding of this issue and join the conversation about how we can bridge the gap between home and school to ensure children are in school, ready to learn. Whatever it takes. 👇 https://lnkd.in/ex62yvRn #EducationMatters #ParentalPerspectives #educationforall #schoolhomesupport #attendance

Hey all! Did you know...🤔 Plush toys are much more than soft, cuddly companions; they offer numerous benefits for both children and adults. These toys provide emotional comfort and security, helping alleviate stress and anxiety, particularly for children who use them as confidants. 🐨 They are valuable developmental aids, enhancing social skills, language, and emotional intelligence through role-playing, which fosters empathy and problem-solving. Educational plush toys make learning fun by teaching basic concepts with interactive elements. 🐨 They also promote nurturing skills, encouraging children to care for their toys, thus building responsibility and compassion. Safe due to their soft, simple construction, plush toys also serve as decorative items, adding warmth to any space. 🐨 Moreover, they often become treasured keepsakes that evoke nostalgic memories of childhood. Overall, plush toys are enriching companions that offer comfort, education, and cherished memories. 🐨 Thank you in advance for believing and donating! 🐨 #plushtoys #plushiecommunity #toys #kobe #stuffedanimals #ComfortAndWellness #comfort #connection #children #soothingmusic #learning #reading #donate #donatetoday #supportsmallbusinessowners #supportlocalbusiness #support #giveachildatoy #everylittlebithelps #donationsneeded #donationsappreciated #donationswelcome #donationsmakeadifference #donations #ineedyou #MakeADifference #makeadifferencetoday

For the month of July, our Who I Am Foundation volunteers in #Albuquerque are hosting our 11th Annual Back-to-School Supply Drive to help children in need begin the school year with all of the tools they need for academic success. With so many uncertainties about how children will return to school and what the classroom will look like, they need your help more than ever. Families with children in K-12 spent a projected $519 per child on back-to-school needs last year. For families in low-income neighborhoods, the costs are simply not realistic. Donating new school supplies to children in disadvantaged communities will make an impact on their ability to begin the school year school-ready. Items we are collecting: -Pencils -Pens -Composition Books -Combination Locks -Scientific Calculators -5-Subject Notebooks -Tissues -Hand Sanitizer -Wet Wipes -Trapper Keepers -Colored Pencils -Markers -Protractors -Paint Sets -Glue Bottles -Notebook Paper -Highlighters -Scissors -Sharpeners -Pocket Folders To donate, simply comment below and we'll have a volunteer coordinate a donation pick up!! #TeamWhoIAm_Albuquerque

3 Reasons You should Donate Books Today 1. Promoting Literacy: Books are the building blocks of literacy. By donating books, you are helping to nurture a love of reading and learning, which is critical for personal growth and success in today's world. 2. Empowering Communities: When you donate books, you are not only promoting literacy, you are also empowering communities. By donating books to libraries, schools, or community centres, you are supporting their growth and empowering the communities. 3. Access to Education: Many individuals worldwide have limited or no access to books. By donating books, you are giving people, particularly those in underprivileged places, the resources they need to educate themselves and improve their lives. #MyLibraryandI #BookDrive #BookDonation

We invite EVERYONE (businesses, individuals, teachers, students, troop leaders, leagues, coaches, etc.) to host a drive or clean out your book shelves for new and gently used kids' books to donate to Share Our Spare during March! At the end plan to drop off the books you collect to the Sharehouse. 2️⃣ Email bridget@shareourspare.org to receive details and Promotion Material templates. 3️⃣ Use any convenient collection receptacle you have on hand to collect book donations.
