Shoot me straight, Nonprofit friends! Why is implementing change in fundraising strategy and leadership so hard? I’d love to include your personal perspective in our annual Non-Profit Leader Study (NPLS). The link will direct you to a brief survey. https://lnkd.in/gyk8G4SA Last year’s study uncovered a strong desire for change in key areas including fundraising strategy, leadership, metrics, and measurement. The study also revealed that many organizations struggle to bring about the change they desire. This year’s study is focused specifically on the reasons behind this lack of change. Sharing your unique experience will be super valuable to the study. To make this an effective research study, we need as many nonprofit leaders and practitioners to participate as possible. I encourage you to share the survey with your friends and colleagues! Thanks in advance!

With growing interest, buzz, and experiments in "co-leadership" models across the #nonprofit sector (1 in 5 orgs (!) in a 2023 Candid study), some practical perspective here on the real risks and smart steps and key questions leaders, boards, and orgs can take to avoid them and realize the very exciting potential benefits - when so many signs point to the old model of solitary, superstar leader downright unsustainable, leading to burnout, and not enough next superstars in the wings clamoring for their turn. From (my better half) Ashley Lanfer and her Wellspring Consulting colleague Kelly Mangiardi. #leadership #NonprofitLeadership #CoLeadership https://lnkd.in/dHnT5fnf

The nonprofit CEO has so much on their plate, making the operational results of an organization not just a question of organizational cohesion and community impact, but as a personal test of their competency. I've talked before about a leaders impact being related to their capacity for empathy, but I believe another important part of a healthy organization is empathy for the leader. The success or failure of an organization can seldom be pinned to a single individual, meaning deeper engagement requires us all to expand out of our comfort zones and be honest in our communication. #NonprofitLeadership #Csuite #Justice

"Don’t tell us all the reasons this might not work. Tell us all the ways it could work." - John Wood, Founder of Room to Read Nonprofit executives and leaders, let’s shift our focus from obstacles to opportunities. Instead of dwelling on the reasons something might fail, let's explore all the ways it can succeed. Innovation and determination are essential when the stakes are as high as transforming lives and communities. By fostering a culture of creativity and resilience, we can overcome challenges and achieve our mission. Let's push boundaries, think outside the box, and find ways to make our vision a reality. Together, we can turn possibilities into impactful actions. #OrganizedSynergy #SocialImpact #NonprofitLeadership #MotivationalQuotes #InspirationalQuotes

Is there anything you would add to this list? From Jim Langley “What Fundraising Schools Should Be Teaching: • Setting realistic expectations • Recognizing and managing unrealistic expectations • Resources for managing boards and bosses • Deepening your self-awareness (so you can help your bosses and board members deepen theirs) • Developing early warning systems of struggles ahead • Creating the conditions that will facilitate sustained fundraising practices • The upsides and downsides of cross-organizational benchmarking (what you can and can’t compare) • Self-management in stressful situations • Orchestrating interventions when your organization is racing in the wrong direction” I might add something about building individual relationships and champions through one on one meetings with board members and organization leaders. As an ED or DD you never want to go into a board/leadership meeting not knowing the temperature of the room or knowing the hot topics that might come up.
