My personal hot take: digital health point solutions have gotten a bad rap. While there’s a lot of chatter about “point solution fatigue” in the healthcare space, what *isn’t* being talked about is the shortcomings of broad-based solutions and what it means for employees with unique health challenges. Thank you to BenefitsPRO for providing a platform to share my argument in favor of the point solution and why the risks of greater consolidation in employee benefits are more significant than we realize. For the TLDR version, here were a few of my key points: 👉 Blanket solutions can be “one-size-fits-none:” by trying to help everyone, they end up supporting no one. Understanding the unique needs of your population and tailoring solutions accordingly is the key to driving engagement and impact. 📊 Expansive solutions are less likely to move the needle on outcomes and savings. Offering tailored solutions focused on supporting more complex patients, who tend to be the most expensive, can lead to greater return on investment. At WellTheory, we put fees at risk based on hard cost savings for the autoimmune patients we serve. 🌈 Broad health solutions can exclude minority employees. We need to even the playing field, especially for women and other minorities who can fall through the cracks when facing unique health challenges.
