I help high-achievers in media advance their careers and grow revenue in just six months. Our industry is changing. I help you thrive. Indie Founder | ITVS Director of Formats | Weekly Column in The Hollywood Reporter
It was a great honor to be asked to share some thoughts about Pride, coming out, and what great allyship looks like during my keynote address for EssilorLuxottica, the world’s largest eyewear company.” As we celebrate Pride Month, it’s important for leaders to understand the significance of communicating with the LGBTQ+ community, which makes up 3.5% of the global population and represents a market worth approximately $3.7 trillion. Leaders should consider that employees who hide their identities at work can lose up to 10% of their productivity. My own experience as a closeted news reporter in the 1980s showed me how consuming this fear can be. Empathy goes beyond superficial gestures; it requires understanding and respect for each individual’s unique journey. Avoid making assumptions or using insensitive language. Effective allyship involves being vulnerable, using inclusive language, and genuinely listening to LGBTQ+ colleagues. By fostering an environment where everyone can be their authentic selves, we can improve workplace productivity and create a more inclusive and supportive culture for all. Everybody deserves to be treated how you want to be treated. Be confident that if you treat someone as a human being they’ll respond to you as one.
Every June, #PrideMonth offers a great opportunity to come together in celebration and support of the LGBTQIA+ community. Pride also marks an important occasion to increase understanding and address biases that exist today, which is why we have launched a global campaign dedicated to raising awareness ‘Together in Pride. Celebrate, Empower, Unite’. Embracing our value “We are one, thanks to many” and in line with the “Eyes on Inclusion” pillar of our sustainability strategy, we are excited to announce our upcoming Pride Month initiatives, including a special global event on our innovative learning ecosystem, Leonardo EssilorLuxottica, featuring Remy Blumenfeld, a leading LGBTQIA+ coach, TV presenter and producer. The event will explore LGBQTIA+ inclusion, the history, significance and evolution of Pride Month, and the importance of allyship and representation. We will also host celebrations in our offices worldwide, together with our brands' and banners' network, to ensure everyone at #EssilorLuxottica can be proud to express their authenticity. #WeAreEssilorLuxottica #TheFutureInSight

Unconscious biases are social stereotypes about certain groups of people that individuals form outside of their own conscious awareness. Everyone holds unconscious beliefs whether we like it or not. The first step in overcoming unconscious bias is to be honest with ourselves, to acknowledge our biases, and to learn more about ourselves and others. One of our Pride Month activities was the 'Unconscious Bias' workshop, where we learned how stereotypes influence our decisions and received practical tips on how to deal with unconscious thought patterns. #WeAreMiele #ImmerBesser #PrideMonth #Diversity 💎🏳️🌈❤️
🌈 Pride Month at Miele🌈 Diversity, inclusion and equal opportunities are essential for us at Miele. Pride Month reminds us that striving for equal rights and opportunities in 2024 is more important than ever. That's why we celebrated Pride Month with our colleagues in June. At Miele, we are proud to set an example for acceptance and inclusivity through such initiatives and to make our contribution to promoting diversity and inclusion. #WeAreMiele #ImmerBesser #PrideMonth #Diversity

Oh yess its HOLI!!..our workplaces, homes, colleges, etc are all radiating the vibrancy of colors, happiness, joy of togetherness, celebrations of bonding and fun of savoring those yum mithais(sweets) and what not. BUT IMAGINE, we are told to celebrate Holi with just one color( a white..Black, yellow whatsoever), I don't think we will enjoy it as much. The celebration may get muted, enthusiasm gutted, and participation rate may arguably nose dive. Why So...? Because, some of us love to play with Pink, some of them greens, some purples...its the beautiful choices we all appreciate and want those inclusion of multi colors..and we respect those choices...we Love the diversity of colors, the spirit of seeing everyone around camouflaged with beautiful colors gives us that ultimate joy. Festivals, celebrations are fun when such choices are represented. Likewise, why shouldn't our workplaces represent such diverse options. People with different color, race, religion, gender, demographics, different geographical representation etc etc.... why can't we make our workplaces more vibrant imagine the chemistry..imagine the fun!! Happy Holi🧡 ZF Group #happyholi #diversity #diversityandinclusion #inclusion #funatwork

"Let's open the door for new conversations," says Ikea India's ad for Pride Month. This beautifully curated campaign raises important questions about the gender and sexual identities that LGBTQ+ people face daily. But should we restrict these campaigns to just Pride Month? Research shows that many members of the LGBTQ+ community express frustration with Pride branding, as it doesn't necessarily inspire more engagement with companies. While it can draw attention, deeper consideration is given to companies that truly commit to LGBTQ+ identities and causes year-round. Beyond basic appreciation, there's a significant uncertainty around companies' intentions in engaging with Pride. Many participants struggle to discern which companies genuinely support LGBTQ+ people beyond these promotional realms. It's time to question the authenticity of Pride Month promotions. Are they truly supportive, or just performative? Let's challenge businesses to go beyond the rainbow and commit to meaningful, year-round engagement with the LGBTQ+ community. #Pride #LGBTQ #Authenticity #YearRoundSupport #Diversity #Inclusion #Marketing https://lnkd.in/gYrYP8vP

Diversity, Equity & Inclusion and Leisure Services Professional | Paralympic Gold Medalist & World Record Holder | Board Director
🌈 Celebrating Transgender Day of Visibility: A Commitment to Inclusion in Aquatics and Leisure🌈 To my friends and colleagues across Aquatic and Leisure it is time we sat down to talk about Transgender Day of Visibility on March 31. Firstly, it is essential to spotlight the achievements and resilience of transgender, gender nonconforming, and non-binary individuals, especially within the unique setting of aquatic and leisure environments which still sees challenging levels of exclusion and barriers to participation. This day is not only about recognition but also about reflecting on how we, as a community dedicated to wellness and recreation, can foster an environment that is SAFE and CHAMPIONS Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI), not with words, but with true action. The journey of gender transition encompasses diverse experiences, including social, legal, and medical aspects, each presenting its own set of challenges. In the aquatic and leisure sector, where the physical environment and interactions are integral, creating a supportive atmosphere for those undergoing these transitions is crucial. Understanding that not all trans individuals will undergo medical transitions, and that the process can vary greatly, is key to providing the right support. To cultivate an inclusive aquatic and leisure industry, it's vital to go beyond generic policies and words of support. The role of Centre and Leisure Department managers and colleagues (many whom make up most of my LinkedIn network) are responsible for fostering the inclusive environment that is critical for the inclusion of the transgender community– from respecting chosen names and pronouns to facilitating change room access. Embracing empathy and flexibility, and committing to understanding the unique experiences of the trans community, will not only enhance our inclusive culture internally within our staff cohort but also enrich the experiences of the diverse communities we serve. In the world of aquatic and leisure, where the spirit of community and personal well-being are paramount, creating a space where everyone feels welcomed and valued is imperative. This Transgender Day of Visibility, let's make a 'big splash' by committing to inclusivity in every corner of our industry's operations. By doing so, we ensure that our aquatic and leisure spaces are not just places of physical health and relaxation but also sanctuaries of acceptance and mutual respect. Innovation comes in many forms even toilets 🚽 Great to see Lapee the amazing design from Gina Périer and her team start to make it's way around the world as part of festivals and larger event sites. For anyone that's planned an outdoor event, your life can sometimes become a series of conversations about toilets and guessing peoples toilet patterns. 😥 Great stats from the Laplee team 🚽 90 % of the very long queues to the toilets are women and people who squat to pee who just need to pee quickly. 🚽 taking into account urinals, men have up to 5 time more access to pee than the other guests at events. 🚽 1 out of 3 women have experienced harassment when having to pee in the bushes. 🚽75 % of women and gender queer people at outdoor events declare not to feel included. 🚽5 % of women event participants have stopped attending events because of the lack of sanitation access for them. Hope to see some #Lapee toilets getting planned into OnePlan soon, great stuff. #innovation #eventsite #festivals #eventplanning #toilets
