Leadership meeting to talk about how we can strengthen volunteering! This weekend, I attended a meeting for all leaders at the national level in the Norwegian Red Cross for both volunteers and staff. The purpose of the meeting was to meet and start working together for the first time since the General Assembly, where a new direction for the organisation was set and a new national board was elected. The purpose of the weekend was to further focus on one of our main priorities, strengthening volunteering, and discuss how we can achieve this. We discussed three problem statements relating to the topic: - It is more important that we recruit more new volunteers than that we retain old volunteers. - We must facilitate a volunteering experience that is more spontaneous and flexible for our volunteers. - It is not important that our volunteers also become members; the most important thing is that we have the greatest possible humanitarian power. In groups of leaders, both volunteers and staff, we discussed the benefits, challenges, and possible solutions. This collaborative approach brought diverse perspectives from leaders from various roles, which enriched the discussions and allowed for a comprehensive analysis of the problem statements. Through collaborative brainstorming, we fostered a sense of ownership and collective responsibility towards finding innovative solutions and potential strategies to address these problem statements.
