Did you know that 30% of transgender individuals become sexually active before the age of 18? And yet, HIV programs can only provide support after they turn 18. This alarming statistic, along with the fact that 7.5% of transgender women have HIV (IBBS 2014-2015), highlights the urgent need for awareness and action. At Naz Foundation, we strive to empower and support the LGBTQIA+ community, including transgender individuals, through our clinic and helpline. We understand the unique challenges faced by this community, such as higher HIV rates (11.2%) in those who cannot read or write, and 10% prevalence among sex workers and masseurs. It is also disheartening to note that the average age at which transgender people have sexual encounters is only 15 years. This further emphasizes the importance of early intervention and education. Our Naz clinic offers confidential and non-judgmental services for those in need. From free consultation with medical professionals to access to resources and support, we are here for you. If you or someone you know is part of the LGBTQIA+ community and needs medical assistance, please visit the Naz Clinic. To make an appointment, call our Naz Dost Helpline at +91 8800329176 or +91 1140669411/12/13/14, Monday to Friday from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM. #NazFoundation #LGBTQIA+ #TransgenderAwareness #HIVPrevention #Empowerment #Equality #HealthEquity #healthcare #transgender #communitysupport #HIVawareness #inclusivehealthcare #queerindia #lgbtqindia #lgbtindia #transgenderindia #lgbtq

February is LGBT+ History Month and this year's theme celebrates the LGBT+ community's contributions to the field of #Medicine. 🌈🔬 Arguably one of the community's biggest impacts was in the development of modern #PatientAdvocacy, a topic we discussed with Neil Bertelsen as he relayed the story of how HIV patients shaped a whole new approach to patient/regulator engagement. "What happened in those last years of the 1980s was something that we hadn’t seen before: a genuine coming together of both the medical community and the patient community, where we became hand-in-glove, basically learning at the same speed." We stand on the shoulders of these giants 🙏 Learn more about how HIV patients became the architects of modern patient advocacy here 👇https://hubs.li/Q02jtNd-0 #LGBTPlusHistory #UnderTheScope

Director at Mist LGBTQ Foundation | Mr Gay India 2020 | Core team LGBTQ+ Affairs at All India Professional Cong
Imagine this: you're in a new relationship, things are going great, but the conversation about sexual health feels awkward and uncomfortable. This hesitancy to talk openly can be especially prevalent within the LGBTQ+ community, where concerns about stigma and judgment can create barriers to essential conversations. So, why are open conversations about HIV and sexual health so important? Prevention: Open communication allows partners to discuss risk factors, testing experiences, and prevention methods like condoms and PrEP. 🔹 Early Detection: Regular testing is crucial for early diagnosis and treatment. Open communication can encourage partners to get tested together and support each other throughout the process. 🔹 Building Trust: Honest conversations about sexual health can build trust and intimacy within a relationship. But how do we overcome the fear of judgment and have open conversations? 🔹 Start Small: Initiate conversations in a safe and relaxed setting. 🔹 Focus on Shared Goals: Frame the conversation as a way to ensure your and your partner's health and well-being. 🔹 Be Respectful: Actively listen to your partner's concerns and create a safe space for open communication. Remember: You're not alone! Many resources are available to help navigate these conversations. MIST can be a valuable resource specifically for the LGBTQ+ community for tips and support. #OpenConversation #LGBTQHealth #HIVPrevention To book a free HIV self Testing KiT - https://lnkd.in/ddfDVJfW PrEP consultation- https://lgbtq.co.in/prep/ For Mental Health consultation - https://lnkd.in/dtMf4bKJ

Director of Public Policy & Advocacy | Coalition Builder & Community-Centered Leader | Equity & Health Policy Strategist & Author
Looking forward to participating in this conversation. Project 2025 is something we should all be paying attention to. It is not just a political agenda; it is a potential catalyst for deepening health inequities that have been decades in the making. Recognizing that this is just the latest in decades-long attempts to redraw political and health landscapes in this nation is pivotal. In the 70s, after the success of the Civil Rights movement, we saw the radical response of the far-right, with the Southern Strategy. Its utilization of racial tensions to reshape electoral politics and stratify healthcare services lead to detrimental health outcomes for minority and underserved populations. In the 80s, we saw the implementation of Reaganomics and its cuts to social services, leading to reduced access to healthcare, disproportionately affecting communities of color. Join us in this dynamic discussion in July.
Please join us July 9 for this important conversation: Responding to Project 2025’s Threats to Science, Rights and Resources Tuesday, July 9, 2024 8 AM - 9:30 AM central More info/register: https://lnkd.in/gcn4Dxi7 Description: Project 2025 is part of an ongoing multi-pronged backlash to the sexual and reproductive health, gender and LGBTQ+ movements. It is likely the national game plan of a Trump administration should he win the US presidential election in November. This has serious implications for both domestic and foreign policies and programs for our communities and beyond. Building on the experience of the HIV movement in fighting these same far-right forces, this webinar will discuss potential responses through the lens of HIV affected communities and programs. #project2025 #thechoiceagenda #webinar #humanrights #reproductivehealth #gender #hiv #domesticpolicy #foreignpolicy AVAC Anne-christine d'Adesky Sean Cahill Will E. Trans rights are #HumanRights! This #TransDayOfVisibility, and every day, we stand firmly by our trans siblings in the HIV community and beyond. We won’t rest while marginalisation and stigma affect the health and wellbeing of trans, non-binary and gender non-conforming people. The trans community continues to be disproportionately affected by HIV as a result of healthcare systems that fail to meet their needs. To tackle HIV we must work towards ending all forms of discrimination. We are still waiting for the #ConversionTherapy ban promised over 5 years ago. Conversion therapy isn’t banned unless it’s banned for ALL. A trans-inclusive ban is vital for LGBT+ justice, and for health justice too.
