A recent repurposing success story scored in the top 0.01% in Every Cure's AI-algorithm! It’s been fascinating to get to know the food allergy community and hear about the Xolair repurposing success story. I was also curious to see how it performed in our algorithm. Even in its beta version, our AI-algorithm identified Xolair in the top 0.01 percent of repurposing opportunities. However at Every Cure, it’s not enough for a drug to be functionally beneficial. It also has to work in people’s lives. It needs to be accessible. It needs to be affordable. It needs to truly improve the quality of life for patients. These are the lessons we’re adopting at Every Cure, ensuring that our focus is not just on biological efficacy but also on real-world impact. #DrugRepurposing #HealthcareInnovation #PatientCare #FoodAllergy

As mental health professional working within the allergy and immunology field, it's important to stick within the boundaries of our scope of practice. Medical guidance is outside of our scope, but helping individuals and families process the thoughts and feelings about the guidance they've received is within our scope. Evaluating allergy tests is outside of our scope, but helping individuals and families develop follow up questions for their allergy care team (to help them clarify confusions and learn more effective management strategies) is within our scope. With that said, it's still important for us to stay aware of the latest research and best practices within allergy and immunology. In fact, that's one of The FAC's missions - to help mental health professionals learn and stay informed. As such, members of The Food Allergy Counselor's Professional Members Network benefit from access to monthly informational emails and a resource section with links to this need-to-know information. Learn more about all of this on our website at https://buff.ly/3QJ7kiH ❤️ if you're happy to hear this effort to educate mental health professionals about allergic diseases! . . #FoodAllergyCounselor #FoodAllergies #MentalHealth #MentalHealthProfessional #ProviderEducation #AllergyMentalHealth

This Friday brings another set of absorbing articles. These three are about allergies and the human brain. The first article discusses a specialized type of immune cell called type 2 memory B cells or MBC2s which hold the memory of proteins that cause allergies. https://lnkd.in/eH6fkrhD The second article is the announcement that the U.S. Food and Drug Administration approved Xolair (omalizumab) injection for immunoglobulin E-mediated food allergy in certain adults and children 1 year or older for the reduction of allergic reactions. https://lnkd.in/gBkFpTJ7 The final article looks into a study with middle-aged and older adults for 20 years, using regular brain scans, spinal taps, and other tests to further understand how the brain is impacted by Alzheimer’s disease before symptoms appear. https://lnkd.in/gZXXpYVW #manhattanlife #medicalscience #medicaltechnology #healthandwellness
