Collaborative innovation lies at the heart of what we do at J&J, recognising that no single entity possesses all the answers. We are driving partnerships across the mental health ecosystem - with technology experts, with mental health healthcare professionals, and with patient advocacy organisations such as GAMIAN-Europe and EUFAMI. Together we can break down barriers to accelerate innovation and access to address the scale of unmet mental health needs in Europe, where 40 million people are impacted by depression. Yet, 3 out of 4 people currently do not receive adequate treatment. Behind these statistics, are the personal stories from millions of friends and relatives from across Europe whose lives have been shattered by major depressive disorder. At Johnson & Johnson, we remain steadfast in our commitment to reducing the burden and disability caused by serious nervous system disorders leading with a precision approach in psychiatry to deliver breakthrough, outcome-improving solutions in areas of critical unmet need. Together we can mobilise change. Together we can be the change. #EuropeanMentalHealthWeek #MentalHealthAwareness

In a global comparison, the United States ranks poorly in key quality-of-life measures like longevity, preventable illnesses, and maternal and infant mortality. Despite its status, the nation grapples with high rates of chronic diseases and alarming per capita suicide figures. It's clear that significant changes are needed to address these pressing concerns. In this episode, Dr. Graham Taylor speaks with Lloyd Sederer MD. Lloyd, an Adjunct Professor at Columbia University School of Public Health, brings extensive experience in mental health leadership. With roles including Chief Medical Officer at the NYS Office of Mental Health and NYC's Mental Health Commissioner, as well as leadership positions at the American Psychiatric Association and Harvard's McLean Hospital, Lloyd has spearheaded significant mental health responses to events like 9/11 and Hurricane Sandy. He boasts a prolific publication record and founded Columbia Psychiatry Media, producing expert content for national platforms. Today, we're thrilled to have Lloyd join us to discuss American Healthcare and his latest book, “Caught in the Crosshairs of American Healthcare”. Founder PIR Center of Excellence | Start up with Global Partnerships to Advance Novel Therapeutics in Brain Health | Advancing Cutting-Edge Solutions for Brain Health
In Costa Rica, we began a unique kind of initiative focusing on healing and understanding. My own experiences have driven me to lead a project that aims to change lives, especially for veterans and first responders battling issues like brain health, addiction, PTSD, and depression. This project is more than just an initiative; it's a promise to those who have faced such challenges that they are not forgotten. We're stepping into the new field of psychedelic healthcare, facing the big task of organizing and analyzing data in a way that's never been done before. Our plan is to tackle mental health care challenges with care and understanding through: Unified Framework: We're setting up a systematic way to collect clinical data, aiming to make every piece of information help in understanding and healing. Patient Participation: We view patients as partners in our research, helping to change the way we think about care and compassion. Real-World Insights: Using the latest technology, we plan to gather a wide range of data to better understand and address mental health issues. Cultural Sensitivity: We know that the setting and cultural background play a huge role in healing, so we customize treatments to fit each individual's unique needs. This effort is about more than just collecting data; it's about transforming mental health care into something that's both scientifically sound and deeply empathetic. We're excited to start conversations about integrating these important practices into our work, hoping to make a big impact in the field of psychedelic healthcare. #PsychedelicHealthcare #DataIntegration #ClinicalResearch #MentalHealthInnovation #PatientCenteredCare #SmartTechnology #CulturalSensitivity #HealthcareRevolution #DigitalHealth #MentalWellness

Summary: The article discusses the failed attempt to pass a bill in California that would allow pilot programs for psychedelic therapy, specifically involving psilocybin for veterans and first responders with PTSD. The proposal did not receive enough support in the Assembly Health Committee despite the potential mental health benefits that psychedelics could provide. Despite setbacks in legislation, advocates for psychedelic therapy are aiming to raise more awareness and possibly pursue a statewide ballot measure in the future. On this World Mental Health Day, we at GeneLeap affirm our commitment to improving mental health outcomes for all. Our passion lies in leveraging cutting-edge biomedical and information technologies to transform lives. Our focus is clear: patients and their providers come first. We identify critical challenges in medicine that can be addressed through innovative science and technology. We are tackling the often lengthy trial-and-error process in prescribing antidepressants. The platform we are building aims to significantly reduce the "therapeutic odyssey,” which often lasts 6 months or more, in order to get patients effective treatments faster, potentially from the very first prescription. Together, we can make a difference in mental health care. Let's continue this important conversation. #WorldMentalHealthDay #TherapeuticOdysseys #HealthandWellness #MentalHealthInnovation
