Kingaroy kids lead the 'other' renewables race to California - but first a pit-stop at Parliament Stanwell might be leading the race to renewables in Queensland, but a handful of hopeful high school students will soon be on their way to race in the world's largest hydrogen event in the United States next month. But before they head from Kingaroy to California for the Horizon Hydrogen Grand Prix (H2GP) World Final, the team made a pit stop at Parliament where Energy Minister Mick de Brenni and Stanwell CEO Michael O'Rourke wished them luck for the big race. Proudly sponsored by Stanwell, the Kingaroy State High School Endurance Racing Team (and their their self-built hydrogen-powered car) won the Gold Coast H2GP PRO race final in June and have now set their sights on the World Final! They will compete against 40 teams from around the world in a thrilling race to see who can make the most laps over six gruelling hours in hydrogen-fuelled vehicles. Stanwell is proud to promote the development of Queensland's next generation of renewable energy leaders and were also happy to recently host the team at the Tarong Power Station where they were powered up with some practice laps in preparation for the big event. The team is also sponsored by RESGroup Ltd, Ken Mills Toyota Kingaroy and South Burnett Regional Council #cleanenergy #H2GP #Kingaroy #hydrogen
From Kingaroy to California, thanks to the power of hydrogen. These year 10 and 12 students are headed to the World Hydrogen Grand Prix. They made a pit stop at Parliament to show me their creation. They’ve designed, engineered, and constructed a state-of-the-art race car powered by hydrogen! It’s a fuel of the future. And thanks to publicly owned Stanwell, it’s sending these heroes to the world championships. Good luck to Lexy, Chloe, Jack, Cooper and Oliver!
These kids and the school has worked so hard to get to this stage congratulations and good luck.
