It Makes You Look Like an Amateur Seasoned job-seekers know that money and compensation come up at the end of an interview process when a job offer is being made. Don't discuss your salary but discuss about what value you can bring to the company, business, people, brand and culture which will eventually create an opportunity for both to move forward positively and create best interest. Companies need to understand your worth of their time reading, shortlisting your application and spending time interviewing you. Asking about salary tends to reinforce the distance between you and the person interviewing you. It also takes away from the time that you could be learning about your prospective employer's needs, goals, and ideas for the position. To sum up, here's what you need to remember when talking about salary in an interview: Know your worth and the forms of compensation that matter most to you. Use salary resources like Indeed Salaries to study the current trends and learn about the range for this job in your city. Give a range, not a specific number.

WHAT AM I WORTH ? Why do we often undervalue ourselves in job interviews when asked about our salary expectations? Many of us tend to quote a figure that’s lower than our true worth, aiming for a ‘safe zone’ to secure the job we need. This cautious approach might help us get the job, but it can lead to frustration when we realize our colleagues in similar roles are earning significantly more. Whose fault is it? Is it ours for not advocating for our true value, or the company’s for capitalizing on our hesitation? It’s a complex issue, but one thing is clear: transparency and self-advocacy are crucial. What are your expectations for salary? 𝙏𝙝𝙚 𝙥𝙤𝙞𝙣𝙩 𝙤𝙛 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙦𝙪𝙚𝙨𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣: With this question the interviewer wants to establish how far away, or close, you are to each other regarding salary expectations. 𝙃𝙤𝙬 𝙩𝙤 𝙖𝙣𝙨𝙬𝙚𝙧- If you get this question during your job interview, the best practice is to respond by saying that you can be flexible. Avoid giving any specific amount and instead ask them what they have in mind for someone with your skills and experiences. If they won’t respond with an idea of the salary range then you can go ahead and tell them what you feel is fair. Of course this will involve a bit of homework so make sure you’ve learned as much as you can about the company’s reputation, budgets, and average salary ranges for positions such as yours. Preparation is key. Let them know that it also depends on other factors such as chances for advancement, benefit package, and so on.
