TODAY IS NATIONAL “MUTT” DAY! Celebrating the joy of mixed-breed dogs… National Mutt Day, celebrated twice a year, falls on July 31 and December 2. This special day is dedicated to recognising the unique charm of mixed-breed dogs and encouraging their adoption from shelters. National Mutt Day aims to raise awareness about the countless mixed-breed dogs in need of loving homes. HOW TO CELEBRATE NATIONAL MUTT DAY? Adopt a Mutt: Consider opening your home to a mixed-breed dog in need. Many shelters and rescue organisations have a variety of mutts looking for forever homes. Adopting a mutt not only saves a life but also adds a loyal companion to your family. Volunteer or Donate: Support local animal shelters or rescue groups by volunteering your time or making a donation. These organisations often rely on community support to provide care for the animals and facilitate adoptions. WHY NATIONAL MUTT DAY MATTERS? National Mutt Day plays a crucial role in spotlighting the value and love that mixed-breed dogs bring into our lives. Unlike purebred dogs, mutts often face higher rates of neglect and abandonment. By celebrating this day, we help to combat misconceptions about mixed-breed dogs and promote their adoption. In addition, mixed-breed dogs come with a range of unique traits and personalities, often reflecting the best qualities of multiple breeds. Their diversity in appearance and behaviour makes each one special, and National Mutt Day is an opportunity to celebrate these one-of-a-kind pets. Link to full article - https://lnkd.in/gwv5vSJy

The mission of Maddie's Fund is to revolutionize the status and well-being of companion animals. The Fund’s 2024 Open Arms Challenge is open to animal shelters, foster-based organizations, and public charities focused on keeping pets and people together who want to increase inclusivity and provide a welcoming environment. The Challenge is an opportunity for organizations to pilot a new practice or expand upon a current program that has already been started, with the goal of increasing inclusivity and providing a welcoming environment for all staff (paid and unpaid) and community members. Welcoming practices that will be considered are those that actively make an organization’s culture more open, equitable, and inclusive for the community. If accepted to participate in the Open Arms Challenge, an organization will implement the new or expanded activity it has chosen during the Challenge month. After submitting a participation report, organizations are considered to win a grant from the Challenge’s funding partners. U.S.-based government agencies or public charities that focus on dogs and cats and are a member of Shelter Animals Count are eligible to apply. Call 516.410.4895, or email clolataylor@gmail.com for a free fee quote to have us write your entire proposal, or edit your draft, for a reasonable flat fee. 🐾 MasterZoo's Initiative: Giving Homeless Animals a Family 🐾 At MasterZoo, the largest chain of pet markets in Ukraine, we recognize that we can have the opportunity to influence the problem of homeless animals in Ukraine, which number almost 140,000 nowadays. Together with the charity vector of the group of companies, Suziria Charity, we aim to find integrated and efficient tackling that challenge step by step. 🐾What We Do: Alongside supporting animal shelters, we've pioneered an adoption program and aim to connect homeless animals with loving families. In this project, our stores become the place that allows potential pet owners to meet their future furry friends. 🐾How It Works: Visitors can browse through photos of homeless dogs and cats displayed on information boards in any of our 190+ stores in 36 cities across Ukraine. For those ready to welcome a new companion, we offer detailed care consultations and a thoughtful gift box to support pet parents on their journey. 🐾Meet Your New Best Friend: In 25 selected stores, you have the opportunity to meet some of the cats in person, thanks to our dedicated volunteer partners. This interaction enables you to forge a connection and make the life-changing decision to adopt. 🐾 Result: Since the launch of our adoption project in March 2023, we found families for 100 cats by December of the same year. We are happy with these small results and recognize that it's just the beginning of our initiative as we are still fine-tuning the processes. Our ultimate goal is to scale this project, contributing to a lasting solution to the issue of homeless animals in Ukraine.

At Beartha we stay pawsome with our furry friends! We are working towards starting our Program to allow individuals that are displaced to have a place for their furbaby to stay while they get back on their feet. Also foster animals from our local Animal Shelter to help them create more space to help other furbabies in need. Some people may not know this but some animal shelters are at full capacity and sometimes families have to call months ahead in order to make an appointment. Due to that some people go to extreme measures and may leave their pet at the location, the pet becomes a stray, or the people and the individual lives in the street. Pets are family and shouldn’t be left behind. Our future goal is to be able to have a location where we can take in both the paw parent and the pet but doing this is the step in the right direction. Between 5% to 10% of homeless people in the United States own pets (mainly dogs and/or cats). Of the 241,117 dogs and cats that entered North Carolina shelters, 170,753 found positive placements, while 47,652 were killed (76% were cats), for a save rate of 70.82%. 25.58% of North Carolina shelters are no-kill (a state is considered to be no-kill when every brick-and-mortar shelter serving and/or located within the state has a save rate of 90% or higher). If you have any questions about our pet care services or need temp stay due to financial hardship and/or resources for you or your pet please reach out to us at support@beartha.org Outside of donations , we are able to make this program a reality by you booking a drop in visits, overnights, hiking, dog run playdates, daycare, or boarding stay! (Boarding and Daycare we only accept small dogs at this time, subscribe to our newsletter for updates) Book a STAY and Help a PAWSOME Furbaby in need! We need $8000 to be able to get a location to be able to expand our program! Every year, thousands of pets find themselves in shelters, waiting for loving families to take them home. Unfortunately, some animals face more challenges than others when it comes to being adopted. Pets with disabilities, medical conditions, or simply those that don’t meet conventional standards of attractiveness are often passed over. Senior pets and those requiring special care also face longer waits for adoption. Fortunately, Greater Good Charities changes this by offering support and resources that help these "less adoptable" pets find their forever homes. We do a lot in the United States to help pets in peril. If you've welcome a rescue dog or cat into your life -- as millions of Americans have done in the past decade -- your own actions are a case in point. But do we somehow end up overlooking the challenges of less-fortunate pet owners themselves? One of America's largest animal-welfare philanthropies, Maddie's Fund, has been thinking a lot lately about the animal-companion bond. Editor-at-Large George Anders takes you inside a big strategic shift that Maddie's Fund has made in the past six years, addressing the high cost of pet care -- and the ways that unstable housing arrangements can put pet owners in jeopardy. https://bit.ly/4cToILU SPCA; The Humane Society of the United States

We're happy to share that in 2024, 8Bit is again participating in a virtual pet adoption initiative 🌟 Our focus remains on RedOne, the brave German Shepherd overcoming his difficult past, under the care of "Krzykosiaki" pet rescue org, and Brozio, the charming cat with neurological challenges, cared for by "Koty Spod Bloku" foundation. Given their special needs, these lovely animals have limited chances of finding permanent homes. Our financial support covers their essential needs, including meals and veterinary care. 💡Want to make a difference? Consider virtual pet adoption. P.S. Another way to help pets? Complete our salary survey, and we'll donate $1 for each response to a pet rescue ➡️ [Survey Completed, Report Incoming] #virtualadoption #esggoals #gamesindustry #2024goals

Please watch this video on #InternationalHomelessAnimalsDay
#InternationalHomelessAnimalsDay is a great reminder of #whatwedo here at #StreetVet and why. At StreetVet, we firmly believe that the greatest gift is the human-animal bond and that no one should ever have to choose between their pet or a roof over their heads. Every pet deserves to live their best life as happy and healthy as possible! This is why we have helped more than 2,800 pets across 23 outreach locations since StreetVet first started back in 2016. We have, provided education through e-learning platforms for 99 hostel staff members in 26 StreetVet accredited hostels, so that pets and their humans can stay together to start #rebuildinglives and begin their next chapter. StreetVet has also been challenging YOU to fundraise on our behalf to help us deliver free veterinary treatment to the pets of those experiencing #homelessness. Without the help of all our supporters, we wouldn't be able to continue our vital work to care for pets like Bluebell, when she and her owner were residents in a StreetVet Accredited Hostel. Or provide pets like Billy with treatment for his cough or support Freddie with his recovery journey after he was attacked by another dog and needed hydrotherapy, achieving the goal of helping him to walk again! You can make a HUGE difference in a pet's life by becoming a regular donator and supporter of StreetVet HERE 👉https://lnkd.in/e3HPHxHT Some of the footage used in this video was kindly recorded for StreetVet by The Meraki Initiative, SHB Creative Content and tails.com 💙 #SupportStreetVet #HelpingOthers #Homelessness #AnimalCharity #Donate #ChampionChange #MakeaDifference #CompassionInAction
