Many ordinary Australians are taking a growing interest in making informed choices, particularly when it comes to the charities they support financially. Most share an eagerness to support human health as well as animal interests. Balancing these concerns can be difficult because many popular health charities fund animal research, often without making it clear to the public. The Humane Charities List is a guide to health-related charities that do not engage in animal research. By donating to a Humane Charity on the list, you will be directing vital funding towards organisations that do not fund animal testing. https://lnkd.in/gCZm-Pc4

a 'Grandma-in-Tech' - Community Mapping, making it 'aDoddle' to connect people & communities - one click at a time. Recieved a new 'Instruction Manual' for life at 55 when diagnosed with Autism & ADHD.
On February 20th, we celebrate National Love Your Pet Day, a day to embrace one special trait that makes us human: our love of our pets! There are many things that differentiate humans from the rest of the Animal Kingdom, but one of the more unusual behaviours is our longstanding tendency to keep other animals as pets. According to a UK Pet Food report, 16.2 million (57%) of UK households reported owning a pet in January 2023, accounting for about 38 million pets total throughout the country. It only makes sense to commemorate something that’s so important to so many people, so on February 20th, we celebrate our pets with #NationalLoveYourPetDay! #Pets have been a part of human life for thousands of years. Ever since we’ve made our first steps into civilisation, animals have been right there alongside us. And look at those faces! Who could blame us? Nobody really knows exactly what animal the very first pet was. But, one animal, the wolf, lived alongside early humans for centuries. Even as far back as 12,000 years ago, dogs and cats were buried in their human counterparts’ graves. It seems that even early humans had a deep attachment to their furry friends. Whether #Cats, #Dogs, #Birds, or even #Spiders, lets celebrate our furry/feathered friends and shower them with love and affection on this day! Animal Welfare Lobbyist, Director at IslandSky Manager Animal Welfare Charity, Causeway Coast Dog Rescue
For the past few years I have been investigating the current state of our animal welfare and welfare services in Northern Ireland, and comparing them with the rest of UK and Ireland. One small move forward is to make our Centralised Breeding Licence Register public. Afterall, they are businssess. It also helps protect public from purchasing from an illegal breeder and should also help them to be able to feel confident in reporting any issues they experience. Thanks to Naturewatch Foundation which recently published a survey of breeders in the UK, it has outlined there are only 50 licenced breeders in NI! This includes three councils without any licenced breeders !! From these figures and the detail in the report - I have estimated that 11 councils achieved a total income of less than £11k, but these 50 breeders achieved an income of £26million. So on this basis, I have now written to all 11 Chief Executives, Ministers and MLAs asking for their support in making this Register Public. This is the start of Reform in Animal Welfare; connecting with the forthcoming 'Lucy's Law'; identifying the real costs of breeding and animal welfare, along with the services required to support it; and of course, recognising the work that the charities achieve as they now take in every surrendered dog in the country for rehoming, along with the financial and legal responsiblity. 'animal welfare is not someone elses issue, it is a public health issue'. For more info on the story, go to https://lnkd.in/eSXbYV38 🐾 😍

Today is #NationalRescueDog Day, the day we celebrate all things related to dog rescues, their hard-working staff members and the dog-lovers who support these rescues. The #virbacpack is committed to support those critical activities at the best of our abilities. There are many ways you can help celebrate #NationaRescueDog Day. Here are a few suggestions: - Nominate your favorite animal charity and they could receive $2,500. @virbac, As part of our ongoing #EveryPetProject, we conduct random drawings and reward two animal charities a month with $2,500, all to help them make an even bigger difference in the lives of pets in their care. Follow this link for more info- https://lnkd.in/erkDtPp8 - If you have the resources, consider rescuing a dog from a local animal shelter. Rescue dogs can prove to be great friends and companions for those young and old. - Get your four-legged friends spayed or neutered to help combat overpopulation. More than three million dogs enter shelters every year, many due to overpopulation. - Volunteer at your favorite shelter or at another animal healthcare facility. As they can’t afford to pay employees, many rescues and shelters depend on volunteers. - Make a donation to your local rescue. Most rescues depend on donations to help pay for medical expenses, food, and room and board. No donation is too small. Every little bit helps! Let’s make an impact #together

🌟 Making a Difference Together 🐾 The incredible MTO Cape region team united once again for the second annual outreach to support @Oudtshoorn Dogs In Need. The MTO George team took the lead, securing sponsorships and setting up donation bins in local pet shops. And this year, our plantation staff joined forces, making this initiative an even bigger success! The generosity of the MTO staff poured in – from money, old toys, pet food, to essential items like sweets, puzzles, toothpaste, and more! Some wonderful family members even contributed by crafting blankets and toys for the furry friends. The result: 105 gift packs for children, 60 food parcels, and a bounty of blankets, pillows, food, and toys for the animals! Our beloved buddy, the MTO safety mascot, joyfully accompanied the team to deliver the donations to ODIN. He even shared some joy by handing out toys to the dogs! ODIN, the Oudtshoorn Dogs in Need organization's George branch, works tirelessly to care for around 250 dogs and 50 cats that have found refuge. Their vital work extends beyond rescuing animals; they actively engage with the community, educating on proper animal care and often helping people in need of assistance too. A significant part of their work involves educating children on the importance of caring for animals. ODIN shared about the outreach: "Christmas will be on another level for so many today and next week ... We work with those that have NOTHING and will be sponges for the educational toys, animals that will have food for the first time in a while ... Dogs, cats, humans - the social responsibility we should all be focusing on." Join us in spreading the festive spirit of giving! Help make a difference this holiday, contact ODIN at 072 084 1374 to lend a hand or provide essential support. Together, let's make this season brighter for those in need. 🎁🐾 MTO: Creating Exceptional Experiences #MTOGroup #MTOCares #CommunityOutreach #SeasonOfGiving #SupportingAnimals #AnimalWelfare

🐾 Saving lives, one spay at a time! 🐱 Today, on #WorldSpayDay, let's talk about the power of spaying and neutering our furry friends. Here are 3 tips to make a difference: 1️⃣ Spay Early: The earlier, the better! Opting for spaying or neutering your pet before their first heat cycle not only reduces the risk of certain cancers but also helps curb pet overpopulation. 2️⃣ Spread Awareness: Share knowledge about the importance of spaying and neutering with friends, family, and your community. Education is key to creating a safer and healthier environment for all animals. 3️⃣ Support Spay/Neuter Programs: Whether through donations or volunteering, supporting local spay/neuter initiatives helps make these services accessible to more pet owners in need. Let's work together to make a paw-sitive impact! 🐾 #spayandneuter #pethealth #savelives #adoptdontshop #rescuepets #animalwelfare #spayday #petcaretips #loveanimals #furbabies #spayawareness #healthypets #communitypets #animalrescue #compassionatecare #preventoverpopulation #treatunusual #veterinaryhospital #kerala

Turning strangers into customers/clients/patients @ Audacy | Senior Account Executive | Marketing & Advertising Consultant
Do you love when a pet gets adopted and finds their furever home? If you don’t… keep scrolling (and also seek help) I never post here about things I’m creating with my stations and clients - but this one is too good not to tell all 2,500 of you. Creating a monthly Pet Adoption Event with the Dallas Animal Services and 98.7 THE SPOT & 107.5 LA GRANDE. Opportunities to be onsite with us with your own booth as we send the metro to DAS to get this shelter back to below capacity (been over it for 9 straight months) and give these fur babies their furever home. Think your company would benefit from being on site with us? Shoot me a DM and let’s chat. (Think give away/discount your product or services to volunteers who sign up that day, people who adopt an animal, donate $ for every new volunteer signed up or pet adopted that day to DAS, ect) Not your thing but know of a company who would be a good fit? Tag ‘em! Each sponsorship level will be category exclusive… so first come first serve.

⏰ TIME IS RUNNING OUT IN 2023! ⏰ We have just 4 days left to reach our End-Of-Year Goal. Many responsible pet owners face financial challenges when their beloved pet gets injured or suddenly becomes sick. Though these families provide day-to-day necessities and routine veterinary care for their pets, an emergency veterinary visit can easily cost thousands of dollars. An average emergency veterinary visit can cost up to $250 for the initial evaluation. Emergency veterinary care can cost anywhere from $1,600 for a simple injury to upwards of $10,000 for something more complex. Low-income families that cannot afford these expensive and unexpected veterinary costs are forced to surrender their pets to an overcrowded shelter, euthanize them, or watch them suffer until the end. 💔 This is the tragedy loving pet owners face every day. We help as many pets as possible, but that takes money, which is why we need YOUR HELP. Since 2013, we have prevented hundreds of pet owners from making a heart-wrenching decision to say goodbye to their pets too soon due to financial hardship. If you are able, please consider donating TODAY! Fractional Planned Giving specialist committed to making legacy giving available to non-profits of all sizes.
#PlannedGiving can include many facets of a #donor's life, and pets are certainly an increasingly common topic of conversation and consideration. All #nonprofit organizations need policies for how they will deal with gifts with "strings" (like care of a pet) and animal-focused charities, in particular, need to be prepared for gift offers with animal care provisions. Will you always say, "no" (or "yes")? Is "yes," dependent upon the gift size/terms? There isn't a right or wrong answer, you just want to make sure you know what you will do so you can communicate that clearly and confidently with potential donors when it comes up. Gift acceptance policy is one of the first things we help organizations address as they launch (or grow) their #legacygiving efforts. https://lnkd.in/epsx8aeh
