Cheers! 🍷 We’re doing it again, and it’s a very special event. This time, the winemaker, Erica Crawford, will be personally showcasing her wines from Loveblock in New Zealand. The California Nevada AWWA Water For People Los Angeles Committee invites to you to please join us for the 4th Annual Water For People Virtual Wine Tasting Fundraiser Wine Tasting featuring Loveblock with Erica Crawford. Why Participate? First, Water For People is one of the most effective water charities, with a firm belief in, and commitment to, transparency, efficiency, and sustainability. Water For People is dedicated to providing community based and sustainable clean water and sanitation solutions to communities in nine countries: Guatemala, Honduras, Bolivia, Peru, Malawi, Rwanda, Tanzania, Uganda, and India. Second, of course, is that this event is one of the most fun ways to help fundraise! 😊 What to Expect Online Zoom event where the actual Viticulturist, Winemaker, Farmer, Innovator - Erica Crawford - guide us through the tasting process while educating us on the wines, regions, and flavor combinations. Two wines will be supplied in a kit for two or more people. Why Virtual? It’s a great way to connect without concerning yourself with drinking and driving. Another reason is Los Angeles region is so large, we can extend our reach well beyond a small region with an online event. More participation is more fundraising! The most fun way to enjoy is to host a few local friends at your house (via Uber, of course,) order several kits, and tune in for the wine education! More people means more glass raising! The last several years have included parties all around California, and the networking is a really fun part of the experience. If it’s Virtual, How do I get my Kit? 1. UPS shipped, added at time of ordering 2. Pick up locations on May 4th - Fullerton: Address location is given at the time of checkout Los Angeles: Will be provided after registering. Choose local pickup option, and I will follow up with you. https://lnkd.in/dpH-pWun Questions: Jenna Bland Jbland@ca-nv-awwa.org #WaterForPeople #CANVAWWA

#APTipTuesday – We recommend always doing a menu tasting, even if you are returning to a familiar venue. Here are some favorite tips for maximizing your tasting experience: 🔸 Choose a private tasting experience in lieu of a group tasting, even if there is a fee associated with the private tasting. 🔸 Include gluten-free and vegetarian options in your menu tasting selections. 🔸 When choosing your tasting menu, ask your caterer what their most popular items are for events similar to yours. 🔸 Share your budget so your caterer can help select items for the tasting that will support that budget. 🔸 Take photos of each menu item you taste to document the presentations and for social media content. Bon appétit! #annplans #nonprofit #nonprofiteventplanning #tiptuesday #menutasting

Thanks for your article in F&P (Fundraising & Philanthropy) magazine, Steven. Valuable advice for #charities. Do you have advice about admin + overheads for grant-seekers? In my experience, non-profits - especially those new to grant fundraising - can feel uncomfortable requesting a high funding amount. Your advice to people who are "shy" about asking for what they need is spot on: "describe what you would do with more funding if available". Sometimes organisations undervalue the costs associated with a grant. Applicants request funding that is not enough to cover the cost to deliver the program, forcing them to use reserves or other funds (donations, bequests) to make up the difference. Charities should request an amount that covers all the "hidden costs" required to write, deliver, measure and acquit the grant, including staff time, and a percentage of the organisation's running costs. This amount should also make allowance for the funds needed to ensure the organisation is sustainable - investment in capacity, governance, innovation, staff development and raising the next dollar (fundraising). The sector is becoming more aware of the need for greater flexibility in grant funding. More funders are awarding grants with less restrictions so the money can be directed to where it will have the most impact. Initiatives such as Reframe Overhead + Pay What it Takes are encouraging charities, funders and donors to change the conversation. Could programs like Penfolds' help to educate grant-seeking non-profits to account for the cost of being sustainable in their approach? This could help reverse the dominant "hand-to-mouth" attitude in the sector. I'd love to hear your perspective. #nonprofits #fundraisers #fundraising #grantmaking #grantfundraising #forpurpose

Mitchell Brewing Co.'s cheeky beer name, Osama Bin Lager, is creating a buzz! This light citrus lager has social media thirsty for a taste, temporarily crashing the brewery's website. Brewery owners Luke and Catherine Mitchell told the BBC that the beer names, including Kim Jong Ale and Putin Porter, are meant to be humorous and offer a "nicer outlook on some horrible dictators." What's the deal? Swipe to find out! #OsamaBinLager #CraftBeer #Charity #UK #beer #branding #socialmediamarketing #contentmarketing #summers #marketingstrategy #digitalmarketing #marketing #socialmedia #business

#APTipTuesday – If you haven’t done the menu tasting for your spring event, it’s time to get that scheduled. Here are some favorite tips for maximizing your tasting experience and outcomes: 🔸 Even if there is a charge to do a private tasting, we recommend this customized experience over a group tasting. 🔸 Don’t forget to incorporate gluten-free and vegetarian options into your menu tasting selections. 🔸 When determining who will attend the tasting, strive to have a combination of foodies and at least one less adventurous eater. 🔸 Be sure to take photos of each menu item you taste to document the presentations and to have as possible social media content. Bon appétit! #annplans #nonprofit #nonprofiteventplanning #tiptuesday #menutasting
