It has never been about the awards. When we launched our journey to build a cross asset derivatives house 7 years ago, we realised we had so much to do. We kept our heads down. We really believed we could offer solutions to clients quickly, flexibly and transparently. We thought we could do things a bit differently. We know our clients have choices, so we have to work hard to stand out from the crowd. We know we still have work to do. However, last night we were forced to take a moment and reflect on our journey so far. At the SPi structured products conference in Lisbon, in recognition of our growth and success, we were nominated for the Rising Issuer award. Other nominees included Morgan Stanley and BBVA, both excellent at what they do, who themselves had an incredible year. When you’re sitting in your bedroom, writing your business plan you don’t imagine rubbing shoulders with people with decades more battle-hardened experience. But we did. And we won! Congratulations to the team for all your tenacity, quality and determination. I’ve always recognised your talent. It’s clear that clients recognise it. 𝗔 𝗖𝗮𝗹𝗹 𝗳𝗿𝗼𝗺 𝗢𝗻𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗕𝗲𝘀𝘁 𝟭𝟬𝟬 𝗖𝗘𝗢𝘀 𝗶𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗪𝗼𝗿𝗹𝗱 : Before Sir Xavier R. Rolet took over, the London Stock Exchange Group (LSEG) was valued at £800 million and was rapidly losing market share by about 1% every week. 📈 When Sir Rolet took over, LSEG (London Stock Exchange Group) utilised approximately $5 billion of shareholder capital to make 15 strategic acquisitions, ultimately delivering a $25 billion company after eight years. 🥇These acquisitions and strategic initiatives positioned LSEG as the biggest systemic risk complex in the world, managing over a quadrillion dollars in national balance sheet through global interest rate swap clearing. 🇬🇧 Currently, Sir Rolet is actively advising against the Solvency II regulations, which set capital requirements for insurers. He calls on the next UK government to save the LSE stock market by reforming these regulations, which he believes are overly restrictive and detrimental to the financial sector's growth and stability. I have studied over 32 biographies of leaders in the world of finance, and yet only a few names have managed to impress me this much.
