This is why GPs will not refer to the #pharmacyfirst service: Can someone answer these question please, as I’ve asked previously but there seems to be so much confusion: According to the protocols that I have glanced at, pharmacy first is targeted at antibiotics only. But what if the patient does not need antibiotics? 1. Can community pharmacists claim for another medication instead? Also, the 7 topics are not appropriate. 2. Can you help Community Pharmacy England to gather critical evidence in the Pharmacy Advice Audit? Community pharmacy teams are encouraged to help CPE to measure the increasing number of people relying on pharmacies by selecting one day (either 12th, 13th, 14th, 15th or 16th June) and recording data about patients seeking informal advice (outside of the Pharmacy First service) on that particular day. Designed to be as straightforward as possible, there are full instructions on how to take part in the audit outlined in the guidance using the link below. The results from the audit will be important for future negotiating and lobbying work, providing crucial data to help monitor the increasing public reliance on community pharmacies and the impact of Pharmacy First. The data will be used to build support for community pharmacies across a wide range of national stakeholders and will be available for LPCs to use at a local level too. Great initiative Stephen. Pharmacists have not had the FEMPI cuts restored yet and to ask them to further take on tasks traditionally not in their role should mean more remuneration.As a clinician who appreciates the emense benefits of pharmacists in community in caring for our elderly I feel it is important for govt to recognise their impact in preventing morbidity. FEMPI cuts should be restored and govt should employ more pharmacists to ensure appropriate medication reviews are done. With this legislation increasing validity times whilst it does serve a purpose to improve access it must be noted that it require more attention by pharmacists to the scripts. In the context of medication safety; drug interactions; and its the serious effects of Polypharmacy in the elderly. With pharmacists doing medication reviews this should reduce drug costs which can be translated to pay. The benefits to our elderly and healthcare especially presentations to the ED will be decreased as much of the falls in elderly; Collapse query cause; syncopal events are a result of Polypharmacy and repeat prescriptions for drugs that should have been stopped. Don’t underestimate the role of the allied health team especially the community pharmacist. Pay them.

💊🌟Exciting news in healthcare! 💊🌟 Patients in UK can now access treatment for seven common conditions without seeing a GP, thanks to a new pharmacy service. This not only benefits patients but also frees up to 10 million GP appointments annually. Pharmacies involved will receive a fixed payment of £2,000, £15 per consultation, and a monthly fixed payment of £1,000 for meeting consultation targets. This an initiative that recognizes and utilizes the expertise of pharmacists. Moreover, this scheme paves the way for the potential development of pharmaceutical care, showcasing how pharmacists, as medicines experts, can play a more integral role in patient wellness. Prescriptions will be legally valid for up to 12 months under new rules. This means that: - Prescribers can now write prescriptions for patients that are valid for up to 12 months (was 6). - From September, patients can ask their pharmacists to extend prescriptions from 6 months to a maximum of 12 months, if they have a prescription dated March 1, 2024, or later.  We're implementing this change following a recommendation from the expert taskforce I set up to support the expansion of the role of pharmacists.
