This is music to my ears, especially for someone involved in leadership hiring. – Suresh Narayanan focuses on hiring and developing leaders from the ground up, without being a fan of fancy pedigrees. Relying solely on pedigrees may filter intelligence only from those who have competed in the talent pool, ultimately de-risking your decision. However, it can lead to missing out on individuals with a combination of intelligence and passion. Identifying a leader without biases requires the discerning eye of a true leader. Unfortunately, having individuals from prestigious pedigrees has become a status symbol on company leadership teams. It should be a desirable criterion rather than a mandatory one, especially when it comes at the expense of attitude and passion. By the way, this is one interview that I find very concise and to the point, without unnecessary repetition of leadership gyan floating all around.
