What a topic to tackle: volunteer comfort and care . . . I'm still mulling over some of my takeaways from the conversation, including 🫂 - responsible comfort and care of our volunteers is about relationships and culture more than policy. Individuals have different needs; we need to entrench a culture of checking in, encouraging/respecting boundaries, asking for feedback, celebrating as a team. 🍶- even though, being intentional about the minimum standards for comfort, and caring for the physical, social, cultural and psychological wellness of the volunteer is a program responsibility and should be codified. If they're doing the work they need to have the tools to do it, and the resources to do it safely. Water and hats on hot days; checking in after an emotionally taxing responses. How does this look at your organization? 🤝 - volunteer comfort and care is embedded across the volunteer lifecycle. It starts with solid understanding of the scope of work and appropriate placement, continues as we provide training and enable the work, and is ever present in how we appreciate volunteers, how they engage with the work, etc, etc. Just like justice, equity, diversity and inclusion work, comfort and care isn't a project or initiative on the side, it's to be entrenched and cultural.  P. BRIJLALL      After a workplace accident, WSIB put me through hell and made my injuries twice as worse  permanently then robbed me of my benefits just because of the colour of my skin. Sandra Di Carlo the case manager took me out from physio therapy that was helping me with my recovery and sent me to wsib Doctor and physio therapy that made my injuries twice as worse permanently. Deb Remekie, The lady at WSIB that robbed me of my benefit, she said that I can sell jewelry, she thinks because I am black I can steal jewelry and sell, so she decided to rob me of my benefit. And it's not a joke she said it verbally and in writing. And believed it or not the APPEALS TRIBUNAL agreed with her without a doubt or any question Atal. The Tribunal did not look at my file, apparently they don't even care to look at my file. I hope you’ll understand that, as Premier, it would be inappropriate for me to comment on or ministry staff cannot comment on or get involved in individual cases.  intervene in your situation with the WSIB. The Board is an independent decision-making body that functions at arm’s length from the government. Response from the Deputy Ministry of Labour, Immigration, Training and Skills Development The ministry is responsible for the legislative framework for workplace safety and insurance in Ontario. The WSIB is an independent organization that operates at arm’s length from the ministry and oversees the administration of workplace safety and insurance benefits and services. As a result, the Minister and ministry staff cannot comment on or get involved in individual cases.

Reunification month gets lost in the other celebratory months because it’s viewed as the expectation. It’s not considered an act of “going above and beyond.” Reunification month is the most important month. Parents facing themselves, having uncomfortable conversations and experiences, accepting responsibility for their actions, and overcoming adversity. Their children working through circumstances outside of their control, building stronger bonds with their families to understand grace, love and compassion. This doesn’t get recognition because what’s the picture to be posted on social media? What do you say about these folks who did this work? Our system doesn’t recognize them as “heroes” because it’s what we are supposed to do. WV subsides adoptions from foster care a great deal. Minimum $700 per month until the child turns 18 plus a Medicaid card. When a child is reunified, they don’t get any support. The case is closed. They get Medicaid if the qualify for Medicaid. Milestones should be celebrated not shamed. I’m glad to see more recognition for reunification.
