Emerging from the halls of ETH Zurich, Swiss startup Mimic has secured $2.5 million to innovate in robotics with a simpler, potent solution: a robotic hand that mimics human dexterity. Unlike its big-name competitors, Mimic focuses on functionality over form, creating robots that learn and perform multiple tasks without the complexity and cost of full humanoid bodies. Targeting industries like food service and pharmaceuticals, Mimic's robots offer a practical solution to labor shortages, performing tasks from making coffee to sorting lab samples. This focus on scalable, specialized robotic hands could set Mimic apart in a market poised to grow to $38 billion by 2035. Mimic exemplifies Swiss innovation, proving that in the race for robotics and AI dominance, simplicity and direct industry application can indeed disrupt the global tech landscape. #Robotics #AI #Startups #Innovation #Technology #AINews #ArtificialIntelligence #ShareforSuccess ◻️Meet The Swiss Startup Taking On The Tech Giants In Robotics And AI ◼️https://lnkd.in/dsn8nrMY

Ben and Marc get it. The era of robotics & physical automation is just getting started, and markets are still viewing the world through outdated lenses. Many overlooked the potential of AI and its broader ecosystem, and now it's the focus everywhere. The next frontier? Robotics. Despite being mission-critical for many of society's most important foundations and development, robot deployment and adoption as a percentage of GDP remains low. This leaves ample room for growth within and beyond its current scope. Broadly speaking, valuations and expectations have not yet caught up to this paradigm shift, as we are still early in this new cycle and recovering from a challenging trailing 12 months macroenvironment for pure-play robotics. Underpinning this opportunity is rapid advancements in actuation, computer vision, energy, connectivity, materials, and, of course, AI-driven training and inference. Interested in learning more about the state of Robotics? This week (Thursday), our strategic advisor Dr. Henrik Christensen, who is also the lead author of the recently published 2024 National Robotics Roadmap, will be discussing his latest work. 𝐑𝐢𝐬𝐞 𝐨𝐟 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐑𝐨𝐛𝐨𝐭𝐢𝐜 𝐒𝐭𝐚𝐫𝐭𝐮𝐩𝐬 𝐢𝐧 2024! Despite a decline in recent years, investment in robotic startups is bouncing back, with over $4.2 billion in funding raised this year, signalling a resurgence in investment, according to Crunchbase. Notable recipients included 2 exciting players in factory automation: Bright Machines and Collaborative Robotics. ✨ Bright Machines is an AI-focused manufacturing startup from San Francisco. Recently, they secured $126 million in Series C funding, backed by tech giants like Nvidia and Microsoft, bringing their total funding to over $400 million. Bright Machines is revolutionizing electronics manufacturing with a full-stack solution that offers centralized data visibility, traceability, performance benchmarking, and flexibility in automation. 🤖 Collaborative Robotics, which recently raised $100 million in Series B funding, plans to use the latest funding to increase hiring, accelerate its robotic pipeline, and bring its AI-enabled collaborative robots (cobots) into commercial deployment. Founded in 2022, their cobots are designed to work alongside humans, alleviating workforce pressures and enhancing safety and efficiency in industrial applications. By leveraging AI, these robots have greater environmental awareness and improve human-robot interactions. 💡 I’m very excited to see what these two great companies have to offer, and I am eager to see what the rest of Q3 and Q4 hold for the startup robotics space this year! #Cobots #Automation #Robotics #Investment #FactoryAutomation #CollaborativeRobots
