Excellent points, Val. We who saw 9/11 terrorist acts will never forget the loss to so many families. It seems today, the principle of “see something, say something” lost its impact. When Ivy League and other students, potentially funded by foreign terrorists and career protesters, waved Hamas and ISIS flags, vandalized monuments, and intimidated Jewish and other students, it appears that speaking up no longer makes a difference. Many colleges fail to address severe antisemitic actions, while minor infractions against other groups often result in expulsion. Is it 1939 Germany or 2024 America? I have to ask myself seeing so many posts rightfully, honestly recognize our terrible losses on 9/11... but I haven't seen mention here or on the news of who did it and why. And now similar terror groups are here, loud, proud, and popularly accepted by faculty and students more than ever before. Let's not forget 9/11--and who and why they slaughtered innocents. And we can't afford to forget that terroristic goal hasn't diminished, as daily evidence indicates.
Today, we come together as a nation to remember September 11, 2001—a day that tested our strength but never broke our spirit. In the face of tragedy, we saw the best of humanity: compassion, resilience, and unity. As we honor the lives lost and the heroes who emerged, let us also celebrate the enduring strength that unites us all. Together, we are stronger. #UnitedWeStand #NeverForget #September11 #StrongerTogether

Happy #MonarchMonday! Some states are starting to see caterpillars, so it’s a perfect time for a caterpillar identification refresh! Monarch caterpillars have a few look-alikes, making it more difficult to identify different species. Pictured are a black swallowtail caterpillar, a queen caterpillar, and a monarch caterpillar. An easy way to tell a queen and monarch apart is by the number of filaments. Monarchs have two sets, whereas queens have three. To differentiate between black swallowtails and monarchs, note the dots in the black swallowtail’s pattern versus the stripes of monarchs. What are your go-to ways of identifying caterpillars? #Monarch #MonarchButterfly #monarchcaterpillar #MorethanMonarchs #monarchhabitat #pollinatorhabitat #gardenformonarchs #Pollinators #Insects #PlantNative #PlantDiverse #PlantMilkweed #insectidentification

Trees serve as vital components of our environment, offering numerous benefits to both nature and humanity. Recognizing them as precious natural resources, it becomes imperative to safeguard and promote their well-being. Yet, beneath their serene façade lies a language steeped in history, bearing witness to the atrocities inflicted upon them in various times and places. This language, encoded within the rings of each tree, holds invaluable evidence of massacres and anti-environmental activities. As each tree grows, it absorbs the essence of its surroundings, encapsulating the tales of brave champions who sacrificed their lives in defense of these arboreal guardians against the greed of timber mafias and their accomplices. Through this silent dialogue, the trees narrate the degradation of the environment caused by the wanton destruction of their resources. Only those with a profound love for nature can truly comprehend and empathize with this profound discourse, recognizing the urgent need to protect and preserve our invaluable green heritage.

Uncover the history of the broken dream of 40 acres and a mule after the Civil War. Learn about the promises made and the reality of reparations in this video. Learn about the unfulfilled promise of 40 acres and a mule after the Civil War. Discover the history, reparations, and Abraham Lincoln's role in this important part of American history. "40 acres and a mule" refers to a promise made during the Reconstruction era in the United States, following the Civil War. It originated from Special Field Orders No. 15, issued by Union General William Tecumseh Sherman in January 1865. The order aimed to redistribute land to newly freed African American families in the South, granting each family 40 acres of land and, in some cases, an army mule. However, this promise was largely unfulfilled, as President Andrew Johnson reversed Sherman's orders later that year, returning much of the land to its previous owners. The phrase has since become symbolic of the unfulfilled promises and the struggle for African American rights and reparations.
