📢 The future of energy efficiency lies in retrofitting our homes! 🏠 To meet climate goals by 2050, we need to retrofit roughly 90% of existing housing. This massive task brings a significant opportunity for advanced building construction techniques, making homes cleaner and construction methods more efficient. Our new report, funded by the DOE's Advanced Building Construction Collaborative, provides a detailed state-by-state analysis and pathways to reduce pollution from US homes by 2050. We found that out of 125 million US homes: 🔹 60% need energy retrofits with envelope improvements + equipment upgrades. 🔹 32% require only high-efficiency, all-electric equipment replacements and minor updates. 🔹 8% are already aligned with climate goals. 🔹 10 million new homes expected by 2023 can benefit from industrialized construction for cost-effective, climate-aligned builds. ⬇ Download the report: https://bit.ly/3RTeYaY Thank you to our partners U.S. Department of Energy (DOE)'s Office of Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy, ADL Ventures, VEIC, AEA, Phius, and key authors from PNNL, LBNL, and National Renewable Energy Laboratory. #ClimateAction #SustainableLiving #Retrofitting #EnergyEfficiency

Totally agree @AnnaHall. Scale matters. District energy enables a wide range of low carbon solutions. Props to the team at Euroheat for advancing the discussion and discovery of district energy. #Euroheat. #sustainablecities
The more we discuss Sustainable Cities and district heating & cooling, the more I am convinced that this system approach to energy will be pivotal in our race towards net-Zero. 🌱 So many good examples and best practices were discussed on stage (and around the tables) in Euroheat & Power annual conference in Rotterdam. The solutions are here. ✅ Let’s implement at scale! Thank you Aurélie Beauvais and the Euroheat & Power team organizing this very important conference. Bringing over 500 experts, researchers, energy companies, consultants, industry peers and policy makers together. Some takeaways: 👉Waste energy (from i.e industry and data centers) amount up to over 2000 TWh/y in EU and can heat the whole building stock and tap water in Europe. (Thank you Anna Ekdahl for an excellent moderated panel and Phil McDermott 🇺🇦, Noah Nkonge and Ulrik Vadstrup for a insightful panel discussion) 👉Europe is connecting to district energy grids and there will be a significant increase in number of new connections ( Thank You Eloi Piel and team for a insightful Market Outlook). 👉Effective policies and urban energy planning, combined with scaling up collaboration across the value chain, are crucial to the decarbonization of cities. It needs to happen in the ”in-betweens”. (Thank you for great breakfast discussions Kristina Lygnerud , Åsa Pettersson and Erik Thornström) 👉The collective effort of industry leaders, cities, governments, and academia is needed to drive long-term success in creating a sustainable, energy-efficient future. ( Thank you Olivier Racle for insightsful discussions) 👉Together, we can make significant strides towards mitigating climate change and achieving a net-zero. Thank you Alfa Laval team bringing knowledge to the table Neil Parry, Ben Westerveen, Maria Rosell, Rolf Jönsson & Mårten Ahlm So many good discussions and so much knowledge in the room. 500 participants with a mission to decarbonize the world. Together we have superpower. 🦸♀️ Let’s implement at scale! Looking forward hearing all implementation stories in next years conference! This is the decade of action!💪🏻
