Technology in Sports; good or bad effect? It's no secret that the world of sports is different today than it was 100 years ago. Even in the past few years, we've seen significant changes in the sports we know and love. From athlete's performance, treatment, and digital referees. Even some great athletes like Rafael Nadal once said "Technology is changing sports as we know it". Well, maybe not all the technological changes are good. Looking at the most controversial, the use of technology is assisting referees. Many complaints have been raised as to the accuracy of these technologies like VAR in football, and Hawkeye technology in tennis, cricket, and, golf. Data analytics and the use of AI, that give some players an undue advantage over their opponents. 💸 Biggest Investment Month in #SportsTech in 2024! $800+ million in dealflow across funding and M&A 🚀 June ended H1 in disappointment, being the lowest of 2024. But we were hopeful for things get better from there, which they did and how! July is the highest investment month so far this year. Here’s a quick summary: ✅ Geography: North America is back up on the charts, leading in both funding (75%) and M&A (50%). ✅ Sectors: ‘Fans & Content’ solutions is at the top but ‘Management & Organization’ is right up the tail there, which we’ll be seeing more of in the coming months. ✅ Top Deals: $350 million in funding for Infinite Reality and $250 million in funding for Cosm.
