Wacker’s new electric and digital offerings At Intermat 2024 Wacker Neuson presented zero emission models such as the new generation TH412e telehandlers and battery-powered rammers and the EW100 wheeled excavator, which the OEM says sets standards in matters of machine digitalisation. One of the pieces of equipment on display at its stand at the Paris-based event was the EW100 wheeled excavator. The 10-ton wheeled excavator has an intelligent attachment management with tool recognition, a well thought-out human-machine interface, and preparation for diverse assistance systems and interfaces. Operator friendliness and efficiency were a priority during development, says the OEM. As a result of the powerful drive hydraulics and high basic work performance of the EW100, it is possible to complete tasks for which a 14-ton excavator would have to otherwise be used. One of the newest members to the Wacker Neuson zero emission family is the first, all-electric telehandler TH412e, which enables working in confined spaces without any local exhaust emissions as a result of its compact design. It can be used, for example, in an underground parking lot or warehouses. The new generation of the battery-powered rammer, tried and tested for ten years, was also on dispaly at the stand. As with all battery-powered compaction equipment, the rammer is powered by the same powerful Battery One batteries. The Battery One system is standardised and user friendly. It can not only be used in all Wacker Neuson battery-powered, electric equipment, but also in other manufacturers’ construction equipment. This saves on both investment and transportation costs, whilst clearly making construction operation easier. Merrill Lynch, Joint MD of L Lynch Plant Hire & Haulage, talks to me about Safety on the Leica Geosystems part of Hexagon stand at Hillhead - International quarrying, construction + recycling show. With lives continuing to be lost in the wider construction industry and the dangers of people working around plant and equipment ever apparent, it’s always good to have a ‘Safety Moment’ like I did with Merrill in this video. In this video, we talked about how the business is using technology to identify incursions into the RED ZONE and how it is simply sharing real-time data with staff and customers. Merrill: “Having a safety first mindset is critical when it comes to our sector. That’s why we have recently added an extra feature to our customer portal, which allows customers to view live the number of incursions of people walking into the red zone of a working machine. “It’s so simple to use as every machine now has a QR code on it. This allows the operator or the works manager to use a smartphone to see if there have been any incursions. We also have alerts for our customers and our own team. “So, for example, if you have had incursions in the morning, you can then look at the job site and understand what changes you need to make to eliminate them, creating a safer environment for groundworkers in particular.” As well as talking about safety, I also asked Merrill what stood out for him at the Hillhead show. Merrill: “The show is amazing as there is so much to see from the OEMs like JCB and its Hydrogen 3CX to the new Thwaites Ltd prototype dumper. "It's also a great opportunity to look at lots of different technologies and solutions showcased by some of the smaller stands. That’s why I like to visit the show.” #safety #infrastructure #hillhead #safetysolutions #plantoperators #construction

Part 3️⃣: Grab your steel toes, we're smashing things today💥 The FireTech OMEN warning lightbar is the most durable lightbar in the industry, and we're going to prove it to you. Why are we doing this? Because your tech should never be the reason a call goes bad. Why are we so confident? Because the FireTech OMEN has all aluminum modules and there are no plastic covers like you see on typical lightbars. We'll keep upping the stakes until we figure out what it actually takes to destroy this thing ... pitch us your best ideas 😈

Our study on diesel engine #exhaust (DEE) exposure to infrastructure construction #workers in the #Copenhagen metropolitan area, #Denmark is published. We measured elemental carbon (EC), organic carbon (OC) and ultrafine particles (ULP) at four representative construction sites. Overall, ULP and EC exposure is clearly linked to DEE from diesel-powered engines and reached up 6.4 µg per cubic meter (about half the existing Danish occupational exposure limit) and generally highest for ground workers. It is evident that the ongoing transition into e-Powered machines will greatly reduce construction workers' exposure to ULP and EC. Read more details in the scientific paper lead by our excellent former colleague Patrick Landon Ferree. #occupationalhealth #exposure #airpollution #sustainability https://lnkd.in/dRKDsUJK

Propeller protection against floating obstacles, such as wood or fishing nets, has become a critical consideration for ship designers and operators in some cases. To address these challenges, solutions like grids and cages around propellers have emerged as effective means of safeguarding both the vessel and the propeller. In this video, explore how our designers are addressing the growing concern of propeller damage from floating obstacles. Discover optimized grid solutions that effectively protect propellers while minimizing potential losses. See how innovation in design strikes a balance between safety and performance, ensuring vessels navigate waters safely and sustainably. #Promarin #Innovation #Engineering #SimulationFriday
