Robotics Engineer at Agile Robots AG... I just want to write my own Science Fiction stories in the real life...
🚁 My First Job: A Drone Fiasco & Lessons Learned! 🤖 Ah, the memories of my first engineering gig! Back in 2015 in Bogotá, freshly graduated and eager, my colleague Carlos Andres Devia and I were entrusted by our esteemed professor, , Julian Colora, with the task of fine-tuning a hexacopter's PID control for altitude. The trust he placed in us was unwavering – little did he know, we had plans for an indoor test flight (and in the middle of the faculty corridor!!! 🤦♂️). With confidence in our work, we prepped the drone indoors (mistake number one!), tethered it to the ceiling (safety first!), and fired it up for the big moment. However, our decision to briefly halt the motors while the control system was active turned out to be our unintentional trigger for chaos. Cue unexpected liftoff! 🚀 The drone shot up at maximum speed, smashed florescent lights, tangled in ropes, and left us dumbfounded. Fortunately, the quick-thinking tether prevented a second catastrophic crash with the floor and saved our radar system that was attached to a 3D structure printed below (I can't say the same about the propellers 😅 ). Why did this happen? Here's the scoop: in our eagerness, we momentarily paused the drone's motors while the control system was actively calculating. This temporary interruption caused the system to accumulate a heightened signal 📈, ready to unleash its full force once the motors were reactivated. Lesson learned? Even the best-calibrated systems can surprise you. Always consider the full context of your system's state before flicking the "on" switch! 🤓💡 This memorable mishap taught us more than any textbook ever could. Have you ever had an unexpected curveball in your work that turned into a valuable lesson? Share your experiences below! Let's embrace the mishaps and learn from them together. 🌟 #EngineeringLife #LessonsLearned #FirstJobFeels #miprimerachamba

#hiring Senior/Principal RF Engineer, Los Angeles, United States, fulltime #jobs #jobseekers #careers #LosAngelesjobs #Californiajobs #Legal Apply: https://lnkd.in/gQFjpjMh Who We Are Neros is transforming a defense industry mired in costly, behemoth machinery-to circumvent a looming vulnerability gap, to give dismounted soldiers a fighting chance against tanks, and ultimately, to get as many humans off the battlefield as possible. While consumer technology is evolving by bounds on the smaller-cheaper-better path, U.S. defense technology wallows in the large, centralized, and wildly expensive paradigm. Our air, land, and sea machinery budget is staggering; yet these large assets can still be vulnerable to very small weapons. When swarm technology comes into its own, the asymmetry will escalate. Nowhere is the pattern more glaring than in small unmanned aerial systems
