Have you heard the argument, "Diversity fosters greater innovation"? It's a popular statement, often echoed by companies, thought leaders, and even politicians. The claim is frequently used to emphasize that diversity work is good for business 💸 ❗ However, it's not entirely accurate. Research on this topic presents mixed findings. While some studies show that gender and ethnic diversity can enhance innovation, others suggest it may hinder it - especially when team members struggle to establish a shared understanding during teamwork. ✅ Therefore, it’s more accurate to say that diversity can enhance innovation when team processes works well - something many with teamwork experience know is easier said than done. There is still a lack of research directly examining team processes. This is what Frida aims to address by focusing on how engineering students negotiate good and bad ideas during social innovation processes by analyzing students' interactions. Last week, she presented her article idea at the #TheDanishGenderConference hosted by Copenhagen Business School at #Porcelænshaven. A team of mobility experts at InterMobility have produced a ‘5-building blocks’ toolkit for mobility companies to improve diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) in the workspace. The transport and mobility sector suffers from a distinct lack of diversity with 84% of the workforce currently male, and comprising older individuals with 35% close to retirement age (between 50-64 years old). François Hoehlinger, Co-founder of Intermobility, told Zag Daily: “Inclusion and diversity is a formidable growth driver but remains a must-have that is not yet properly handled by companies in transportation and mobility.
