With in corporate America there are two types of people, the people who work hard, and the people who are able to get other people to work hard. Let’s call them slaves and masters. And I think that is just about all you need to know to understand how corporate America works.

Refreshing your Organization/Department/Team Have you ever walked into your work spot and felt empty? Or, have you noticed a vacant stare when you're talking with your co-workers? And, does your mind set change when you pull into the parking lot of your work? Do you sort of go into the auto-pilot role? Many organizations operate with employees who are in that "Stepford Employee" mode. It's easy to say "Well, that's how some people go through their jobs-it gets them through the day/shift." We all know the dangers of that in many professions; starting with healthcare. If you see some of the vacant looks on your team or yourself, I can help. With many Organizations across the US and in Kazakhstan, I have revived many Teams with activities that include a focused exercise and discovering what's going well and what could be changed. One employee told me after a session with her team :" It's not so bad now". High praise, indeed. 😏 Looking forward to hearing from you.

Feeling underappreciated for your contributions can be incredibly demotivating. I recently questioned the dynamic between employee dedication and employer support, reflecting on the importance of mutual respect in the workplace. Employees who bring dedication, passion, and a growth mindset deserve to feel valued by their employers. It's crucial to recognize when a company culture doesn't align with your well-being. While some organizations excel at employee well-being, others may prioritize short-term gains over long-term investment in their workforce. This experience highlights the importance of understanding employer-employee expectations during the hiring process. While I've focused on acquiring skills and certifications to advance my career, recognizing what a healthy work environment entails is equally important. Looking ahead, I'm committed to learning more about employee rights and expectations to ensure a mutually beneficial work relationship in the future. In today's fast-paced work environment, the concept of a "dry promotion" is becoming more common. It's a situation where employees are given additional responsibilities and a new title, but without a corresponding pay raise. Navigating this can be tricky, but it's crucial to evaluate the non-monetary benefits and consider how the opportunity aligns with your long-term career goals. I sat down with the wonderful ladies from CTV News' The Social on Friday to discuss how to approach a dry promotion, whether it's negotiating for perks like flexible work hours or deciding when it's okay to say no (because this is always an option!) More and more companies are making the necessary adjustments to language and expectations for team members. "We're a family" is something that feels good but ultimately isn't serving the company and team best. Making cuts, promotions, and fires is a necessary part of a healthy team that, let's face it, you can't really do to your actual family! The more important point that companies need to start embracing is that genuinely caring for those on your team should not be mutually exclusive from holding each other accountable and trusting each other.
