Donate your appliances!♻️Did you know? Less than 12% of mainstream e-waste is recycled? If you or your organisation wants to be part of the solution to reduce e-waste and contribute to a circular society then donate your used or lightly damaged appliances to Taking Care of Business. Our Cape Town, Johannesburg, Durban and East London branches are looking for the items in the picture, plus large appliances like fridges, freezers and microwaves. Please note that most branches can arrange a collection, but only if you have a lot of items or a big item and if you are close to our office. 🏫Organisations or schools: Contact us to become a collection point. TCB is a non-profit organisation that uses e-waste to equip unemployed South Africans on their journey towards self-employment (teaching them how to repair and sell the items for a small profit). #CircularEconomy #ZeroWaste #Repair #ReducReuseRecycle #Sustainability #TakingCareOfBusiness #ElectronicWaste #Collaborations #Partnerships

Wanna save money💸& the planet 🌍 when moving out?! 🏡🚐Here are 3 companies that will help you achieve that if you’re based in the UK (I’m sure you can find similar ones in other countries though!): 1) British ❤️ Heart ❤️ Foundation (BHF) I donated so much stuff to British Heart Foundation that they’re gonna name one of their shops after me! Anyway, rather than entering their hall of fame, I’m more interested in contributing to their climate action. Every year BHF saves as much CO2 as that released by charging 16 trillion smartphones! 📱📱📱📱📱📱📱📱📱📱📱📱📱📱📱📱📱📱📱📱📱📱📱📱 2) Necessary Furniture 🛌🏽 When it comes to furniture, this is a NECESSARY addition to your moving to-do list. They’ll come to collect any furniture (they seem to be less selective than BHF) for free and donate it to other people. https://lnkd.in/dr9TZPyh That’s another example of how you can profit from a nonprofit! Yes, you read that right, because the more things you donate, the more likely you won’t need to hire a removal company 🚐. 3) Go Panda 🐼 Having said that, if you wanna carry something with you, make sure to pick a sustainable pickup like Go Panda. Relying on them for the transport of your goods you’ll contribute to planting trees in the Scottish Highlands. The Movements’ Trust believes that social action is desperately needed in today’s world - people-powered solutions are essential way we can rise to the challenge presented by the climate and nature emergencies, as well as the threat of fragmented communities, a rising cost of living, pollution and lack of access to sustainable employment- movements like Autosafety - Uganda who take a practical and constructive approach to cutting vehicle emissions and improving communities. Social movements can respond swiftly to opportunity, represent communities and their specific needs, mobilise energy and strengthen democracy and economies - they offer something unique that we should protect, rather than forcing them to register as a charity in order to access funding. Community organisers and social movements are severely hampered by the barriers to funding that informal and unregistered entities face, particularly in their early stages - our mission is to partner with them, act as charity sponsor, and advocate for their work so they can access the funding they need, as well as to provide other support that maximises their effectiveness. Consider making a donation to the Movements Trust in order to get more funding to social movements movements like Autosafety Uganda https://lnkd.in/ezjV9jvs #climatecrisis #peoplepower #reformphilanthropy #movementbuilding #justtransition

Umoja Clean Water Foundation, based in #Uganda, is a small #NGO focused on providing water to communities in need. What started as a small project, in 2021, has led to a larger movement due to increased demand. Thus far, we have built 18 wells, which have provided water to over 3500 villagers in the Eastern Ugandan region. We always seek different ways to support the community through food, clothing, and accessible water. For more information about what we do, click the link in our bio. #donatetoday or share with your #network to help support our mission ✨ #nonprofit #waterscarcity #cleanwater #waterconservation #climatechange

We're currently engaged in a project in Morocco where we pay migrants a fair wage to assist in cleaning up parks. Not only do we strive to maintain the cleanliness of these public spaces, but we also recycle some of the materials collected to create new products, which in turn support our ongoing initiatives. However, to continue providing wages to migrants and to enhance our recycling efforts, we require additional support. Your donations today will enable us to provide fair wages to migrants and procure materials for constructing recycling machines, thereby expanding our capacity to create more sustainable products. Join us in making a difference by donating today! https://lnkd.in/equhqwNG #MigrantSupport #ParkCleanUp #RecyclingProject #SustainableInitiative #DonateToday #CommunityEmpowerment #EnvironmentalAction #FairWages #MoroccoProject #CreatingChange #SupportOurCause #BuildingABetterFuture #GiveBack #GlobalSolidarity #EmpowerMigrants #GreenInitiative

For anyone who needs to know this. What are considered three items? "On garbage collection day, households with curbside collection can place their blue bins, green bins, and up to three-items of garbage for collection at the curb," the city says. A garbage item could include: A garbage bag A container of up to 140 litres A bulky item (furniture or bulky item that can't be re-used or donated) The city says "several smaller bags" can be placed in containers up to 140 litres.
