At Teachers, we are committed to giving back to the communities we serve. We are thrilled to announce that we raised more than $600,000 for Children's Miracle Network Hospitals through fundraising efforts, along with our second annual Teachers Federal Credit Union Golf Tournament in Westhampton Beach, NY.
This incredible achievement wouldn’t have been possible without the support of our members, employees, and business partners like TruStage, Fiserv, and more. Together we are Smart For A Cause!
Kudos to this incredible young man.
Having become indigent for several years when my ex-husbands wealthy family paid all his legal fees in repeatedly suing and pounding me into poverty, I can honestly speak from experience as a mother of 3 children who suffered in poverty during those years it is absolutely OUTRAGEUS that any child in America is NOT served lunch.
I am extremely lucky I "made it," but my children and I have NEVER forgotten those days. Every time I see a story like this i just shake.
There should be absolutely no social order associated with school lunches anywhere in this country. ALL school lunches in America should be offered at NO CHARGE as part of our school curriculum. I would GLADLY support tax increases to cover the costs of a nationally required program to feed, at no charge, all children in our schools for lunch. And in a balanced program, children can still be make "choices"--green beans or peas, chicken, eat or fish--they choose-- white milk, chocolate milk, what kind of juice, Jello , pudding or graham crackers as a light desert, etc etc etc--so the child fees like he can have some individuality while the school maintains variety would be great. None of us cannot expect a hungry, impoverished child to learn anything while operating on an empty stomach--or while being ridiculed because the child has to present a voucher or the as*hole "cashier" loudly turns the child away for an overdrawn account or lack of funds. In this day and age the fact this has still not been addressed is beyond my comprehension:

Cayden, an 8-year-old, took action when his friend was denied a hot meal at school due to school lunch debt. Cayden, with the support of his mom, initiated a fundraiser called "No Child Goes Hungry" to assist students who were facing meal challenges. Through his efforts, Cayden successfully raised over $40,000, showcasing his inspiring generosity and compassion.

In addition to being financially successful, small businesses owners often have a desire to be a part of their local community and help those in need.
After many years of working with nonprofits, consultants Heather Christopherson and Amy Lake, CFRE noticed that both small businesses and nonprofits struggle to find ways to support each other, but when they do, it’s mutually beneficial.
Your survey response will provide insight into how small businesses make charitable decisions, and the data gathered will be used to support small businesses so they can increase both their revenue and generosity.
Breaking the misconceptions surrounding generosity can lead to more sustainable and impactful support for nonprofits. By encouraging year-round giving and proactive generosity, we can ensure nonprofits have the resources they need to thrive and make a difference. Let’s move beyond the limitations of seasonal giving and direct requests, embracing a broader, more inclusive approach to generosity that benefits everyone involved. In today’s podcast, John Bromley from Charitable and Stephen Halasnik from Financing Solutions, a leading provider of business loans for nonprofits, discuss breaking misconceptions: generosity beyond seasons and giving requests.
