When it comes to your career, timing is everything. There are moments when you will want to stick it out to make the most of your current position and there are times when you will have to make the call to change your circumstances. This is not a talk dedicated to helping you figure out what you want (although that will be a great by-product) but rather to know when to make a change by challenging you to ask yourself the questions that will help you create clarity. You will walk away with: *Greater self-awareness and confidence in what you want *Inspiring stories and examples of career transitions (personal to Rachel & her clients) *Tangible tools and frameworks (that you can work with immediately) to help you reflect *New ways of understanding your past experiences *Key questions that you can ask yourself to assess your role now and in the future *Productive mindsets that will support your career development and growth *Clarity on whether you want to double down where they are or if you want to consider making a change

The most important factor for your advancement is your visibility. So how to influence that authentically and with integrity? I bet you are doing brilliant strategy work for your company, so what about your own strategy? Maybe it feels a bit self-serving, self-promoting and anyway shouldn’t your work speak for itself? That all depends on what you are working at. If you are waiting for someone to tap you on the shoulder for that next role and you are not visible, it will be a long wait. ✅ Let’s talk about reputation. You don’t own your reputation, others do. Your reputation is how you make people feel and what people remember about you. Every day. You are working on being the best leader you can be and staying on top of your game, right? Yet it’s not enough to be building a great reputation if no-one knows about it. Your reputation is what you do, and how you do it. Next is who sees that. Start by answering these questions. ❓ What are you known for now? ❓ What do people say about you? ❓ What do you want to be known for? ❓ Is there a gap? ❓ What will you do about that? ➡️ What can you do about that? Start with the mindset shift of committing to being more deliberate about building your visibility, then work on the following: ⭐ High visibility projects – be strategic about what you volunteer for. ⭐ How you impact at meetings - where you demonstrate your leadership. ⭐ Your network - this is your sphere of influence. ⭐ Mentors - they can give you exposure to others. There is a time in your career when being successful at your job wont fuel your progression unless you can make what you are great at visible to senior and influential folk. So let that light shine! 🌟 #reputation #career #visibility

"I knew it wasn't going to work, there were red flags, but I kept giving them chance after chance to prove that I didn't make a mistake, to prove that they were worth it and could change. I’m a big fan of Herminia Ibarra’s work on career and leadership transitions and weave some of the core principles she teaches when I’m coaching and mentoring people who are going through their own period of career reinvention. Understanding our Identity, the multiple versions of ourselves and experimenting when considering or navigating a career change is absolutely key to the successful integration of our new ‘self’ and discovering a more aligned path. Once we are clear on who we are (Identity) we can excel at what we do (Impact) in a way that feels authentic and aligned. Which = true success. I highly recommend this book if you’re at a crossroads in your career or navigating a transition into similar or brand new territory. 📚 What resource would you recommend to someone navigating a career change? #AuthenticLeadership #CareerTransition #LeadershipJourney #Coaching #Mentoring

Don’t let your title fool you. It’s not your golden ticket. A lot of leaders cling to their titles, believing it guarantees advancement. But it won't bridge the gap between where you are and where you want to be without a solid career strategy. A career strategy is not: -sitting quietly waiting to be noticed -focusing only on promotions -piling on more work -a resume or a Linkedin profile It about actively shaping your path. ↳ Setting clear objectives. ↳ Making strategic moves that align with both your values and market needs. ↳ A high position without strong leadership skills is a recipe for failure. And with out a clear career strategy, a leadership position can feel meaningless. Hear me out 🗣️. Confidence doesn’t just come from having skills and titles. But from intentionally using them to advance your company’s goals AND your goals. A career strategy isn’t a ladder you climb. But a path your carve with purpose and intent. Your expertise and leadership is too valuable to be throwing around all willy nilly. Ready to become intentional about your career & leadership? DM me to schedule a consultation. #AliciaEmpowering

"Recruiter III at AAON, Inc. & VP of Public Relations at TAHRA | Full Cycle & High Volume Recruitment Expert | Onboarding SME | Networking & Social Media Strategist"
This message is right on time. These past few days I’ve been extremely anxious due to a pivotal moment in my career journey: my transition from Senior HR Generalist to Recruiter III. This decision, driven by a desire to better align with my personal and professional values, marks a significant step in my commitment to growth and collaboration. In my experience, titles can sometimes restrict rather than elevate our potential. They might box us into roles that limit personal and team growth. In my previous position, despite fulfilling my responsibilities, I felt that the emphasis on the title limited the broader contributions I wished to offer. This realization sparked my decision to accept the offer to shift roles—a move intended to enhance the collective creativity and effectiveness of teamwork. Now, in my new role, I’m hoping to focus more on what truly matters—people. This isn’t just about career progression; it’s about creating a space where every voice, including mine, is heard and valued, contributing fully to our mission. I believe in the power of teamwork and the importance of mental well-being in achieving professional success. I’m looking forward to this new chapter where I can truly thrive, demonstrating that sometimes, stepping sideways is the best way to move forward. Let’s embrace roles that empower us, foster growth, and bring us together as a stronger team.
