Mattijs Slee and his team at Battolyser Systems have secured €30 million in Series A funding, backed by Invest-NL, Global Cleantech Capital, and Innovation Industries. This follows a €40M loan from the European Investment Bank (EIB) last year, signaling massive momentum in the journey to commercialize their groundbreaking hydrogen battery. What sets the Battolyser apart? It’s the world’s first system that both stores electricity and generates hydrogen – providing a unique solution for balancing energy grids and reducing green hydrogen costs. With the ability to store surplus renewable energy from wind and solar farms, the Battolyser is a game-changer, addressing grid congestion and enabling hydrogen production at the lowest power rates. The company is now scaling up, preparing to launch two versions of its latest Battolyser – a 2.5 MW plug-and-play model and a 5 MW modular system – ideal for industries needing hydrogen at scale.
