It's World AMR Awareness week! Antimicrobial Resistance (AMR) is a growing global health challenge, largely driven by overuse of prophylactic antibiotics in surgery. XPERIENCE; a novel surgical irrigation solution, offers a way to reduce this reliance while improving patient safety. #winwin XPERIENCE works by disrupting biofilm formation at the surgical site, helping to clear contaminants and reduce infection risk. This enhanced irrigation process lowers the potential reliance on antibiotics and curbing AMR. The result? Better infection control, fewer complications, and faster recovery. Let’s embrace solutions that fight AMR and improve surgical care! How can a material used in movie prosthetics help fight hospital infections? Graduate students Majed Othman Althumayri & Azra Yaprak Tarman alongside #TAMUbme faculty have found a way. 🦾 Using Ecoflex, a silicone rubber, Althumayri and Tarman created lifelike skin replicas to study bacterial infections from intravenous catheters, opening new doors for safer medical devices and improved infection control. “Developing realistic skin models that can mimic the human skin is an important initial step, but we think that incorporating additional elements, like body fluids and other clinically relevant situations, in future experiments will bolster our findings and further validate Ecoflex’s potential for medical applications.” said #TAMUbme Dr. Hatice Ceylan Koydemir Learn more at http://tx.ag/BMENEcoflex

The Hidden Danger: Hospital-Acquired Infections (HAIs) At NOBiotics, we understand that healthcare should be safe, yet Hospital-Acquired Infections (HAIs) pose a significant threat to patient safety. The CDC reports that about 1 in 31 hospital patients has an HAI on any given day, leading to 99,000 deaths annually in the U.S. alone. Why Are HAIs Dangerous? HAIs can cause prolonged hospital stays, increase healthcare costs, and sadly, higher mortality rates. Common types include surgical site infections, urinary tract infections, and ventilator-associated pneumonia. How Can We Prevent HAIs? Hygiene Practices: Handwashing and proper sanitization are essential. Antimicrobial Stewardship: Responsible antibiotic use helps combat resistance. Innovative Solutions: At NOBiotics, we’re dedicated to developing effective antibacterial solutions. Take Action! You can help prevent HAIs by staying informed, advocating for safety, and supporting research efforts. Together, we can create a safer healthcare environment. Join us at NOBiotics in the fight against HAIs! Follow NOBiotics! #healthcare #infections #scientists #biomedical #PhD #biotechnology (Image Citation: Global Alliance for Infections in Surgery)

Cornea Update: Overview of Mycotic Keratitis: Abstract: Keratomycosis is a serious corneal infection associated with high ocular morbidity that can lead to severe vision loss. It is estimated to affect more than 1 million patients annually, most commonly occurring in tropical climates, and represents a growing threat to patients worldwide. Despite aggressive medical management, fungal infections have a higher rate of perforation requiring surgical intervention compared with other infectious etiologies. Early diagnosis and appropriate treatment are keys to preserving vision and saving patients' eyes. http://dlvr.it/T6xkBM #Cornea #Ophthalmology #Ophthotwitter

Infection treatment with best products- Biocomposites
We’re delighted to share that our team members, Andrius Simonaitis and Pavelas Voiniusas, recently had the opportunity to participate in a key conference focused on implant-related infections organized by Associate Professor Dr. Giedrius Kvederas and Dr. Andrius Sadauskas from the VUL Santaros Klinikos Ortopedijos-Traumatologijos Centras and by Professor Dr. Andrej Trampuz, founder of the PRO-IMPLANT Foundation. This event brought together top specialists from diverse fields, offering a fantastic platform for collaboration with the medical community. 🤝 It was an excellent chance to exchange insights on innovative solutions for infection management in surgery. We were particularly proud to showcase Biocomposites products we distribute – #Stimulan® and #Genex® – which play a vital role in treating complex infectious diseases like #Osteomyelitis. We remain committed to collaborating with healthcare professionals to enhance patient outcomes and support advancements in infection control in surgical practices. ✨ #Biomedika #Biocomposites #InfectionControl
