Ruby was 17 when she was diagnosed with blood cancer. She visited the GP seven times before being referred to hospital, where they found a tumour in her chest. It was caused by T-cell acute lymphoblastic lymphoma, a rare and aggressive cancer that ultimately proved to be incurable for Ruby. Her mum Emma began fundraising in Ruby's memory, determined to make a difference for teenagers like Ruby in the future. She set up Ruby’s Live Kindly, Live Loudly - Cancer Research Fund at CCLG in 2020. Last year, she gave a talk about Ruby, and honouring her final wish to fund research that would make a difference for young people with cancer ♥ Emma said: “She had one of those cancers that was just too aggressive. It kept coming back. It was like the Terminator. And she died 10 months after being diagnosed. And then what do you do? You've poured your heart and soul, every fibre of your being, into trying to keep your child safe, and it hasn't worked. You are left utterly bereft, bereaved, the words don't do it justice…” You can watch Emma’s full talk here: https://bit.ly/3UhNfC5 #TYACAM #TYACancer #TeenageAndYoungAdultCancer

The fight against breast cancer is FAR FROM OVER! In the Philippines, only 10-20% of women receive regular breast cancer screenings, as mammography is not readily available. 💗Our next breast cancer efforts will deploy critical mammography machines to Low to Middle Income Countries like the Philippines to address this significant gap in care.💗 But, we NEED YOUR HELP to execute future projects. Please support us by reaching out to collaborate and donating today! https://lnkd.in/eF37jfxw Thank you for joining the conversation and following along with HERhealthEQ this month as we explored breast cancer's impact, how our Costa Rica project addressed this critical health issue, and how our future projects will continue to alleviate the disease's burden. #Breastcancer #Pinkribbon #WomensHealth #WomensRights #GlobalHealth #CancerAwareness #FightBreastCancer #BreastCancerAwareness #SupportWomensHealth #AccessToScreening #MammographyMatters #EndBreastCancer #PhilippinesHealth #HERhealthEQ #DonateForACause #HealthForAll #WomenDeserveBetter #GlobalHealthEquity #TogetherForHerHealth #ScreenToSaveLives #SupportOurMission

Supporting survivors, patients, caregivers, through sharing stories, symptoms, information, and coping strategies.
March is a special month dedicated to raising awareness about various types of cancer. This month, we particularly focus on Colon, Kidney, Anal, and Multiple Myeloma cancers. At the Oladele Foundation, we believe that awareness is crucial in the fight against cancer. By educating our community about these specific cancers, we can encourage early detection, support those affected, and ultimately save lives within the African/Black community. We encourage everyone to learn more about these cancers, their symptoms, and the importance of regular check-ups. If you or someone you know is battling cancer, remember that you are not alone. Let's work together to demystify cancer and create a supportive environment for patients, survivors, and caregivers within our community. Get involved! https://lnkd.in/gTWNUqdV #CancerAwarenessMonth #OladeleFoundation #cancerfighter #africancancersupportgroup #blackcommunity #cancersupportgroup #cancercommunity #cancerintheblackcommunity #cancercaregivers #cancersurvivor #beatcancer #raiseawareness #cancerday #charityorganization #cancerawareness #calgaryalberta

🔈 Did you know? 🔈 Clinical trials can be a lifesaving option for many cancer patients but many face barriers when trying to access care through a trial. A report found that only 6.3 percent of cancer patients enroll in cancer treatment clinical trials - and the rates are even lower for some populations. Lets work together to ensure patients and their families are aware of the trials that could impact their care and educate insurers what is - and isn’t - covered when it comes to trial care. In June, age 24, my closest friend, Max Vardy, was diagnosed with glioblastoma, a terminal brain cancer. Max and his fiancée, Georgina English, have started fundraising for Brain Tumour Research, to find a cure for glioblastomas. Any donation can make a difference, and if you can’t donate, please reshare to help spread awareness. You can find out more about Max’s story on Instagram @maxvardybraincancer, and in the link below. https://lnkd.in/d5dWg5VS #Glioblastoma #BrainCancerAwareness #MaxVardyBrainCancer #FundResearch #DonateToMakeADifference
In June, life as we knew it was shattered when my fiancé, Max Vardy, was diagnosed with glioblastoma – an aggressive and rare brain cancer. It’s been a challenging journey, to say the least, but Max’s strength and determination through his first round of chemotherapy and radiation have been nothing short of inspiring. You can follow the journey on Instagram @maxvardybraincancer As we wait for the next round of scan results, we have started fundraising for Brain Tumour Research, to find a cure for glioblastomas. Currently there is no cure and we face a much shorter life together than we ever expected. Sometimes, on my commute, I want to stand up and shout to everyone around me – “How is everything just continuing as usual? Can someone please help? Max is fighting for his life.” While life goes on as normal for so many - for us, every day is an exhausting battle. Glioblastoma is devastating, claiming far too many lives, especially among the young. I have to watch each day the toll it takes on Max, and it’s shocking how little progress has been made in treatment over the last few decades. This cancer isn’t just a diagnosis, it’s a fight for time, and one that too often doesn’t have the support it needs. I’m asking for your help – if you are unable to donate, please reshare to help spread awareness. Even £1 can make a difference. Your support could bring us one step closer to better treatment options for glioblastoma patients! Thank you for reading, for sharing, and for standing with us in this fight. #Glioblastoma #BrainCancerAwareness #MaxVardyBrainCancer #FundResearch #DonateToMakeADifference

🎀 October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month 🎀 At Accountancy Options, we stand in solidarity with the thousands of Australians affected by breast cancer every day. This month, we’re shining a light on the devastating impact this disease has on individuals and their loved ones. Every day, 58 Australians are diagnosed with breast cancer, and over 3,300 lives are tragically lost each year. Thanks to ongoing research, survival rates have improved dramatically, but there is still more work to be done. As we enter October, let’s come together to support the National Breast Cancer Foundation’s goal of Zero Deaths from breast cancer. Every effort counts in advancing research, increasing awareness, and ultimately saving lives. Join us in spreading the word and making a difference. 💗 #breastcancerawareness #BCAM2024 #ZeroDeaths #supportingresearch #breastcancersupport #AccountancyOptions

Amazing work! It just shows that we need to be more vigilant especially in the unscreened population (<50 yrs) which comprises 23% of all breast cancer cases. These women tend to present with more biologically aggressive cancers and late in the disease process ( metastatic) . Early diagnosis saves lives Know your risk factors - family history/ breast density/ polygenic score Seek advice and appropriate management if you have breast symptoms- lump/ nipple discharge /nipple retraction/ skin tethering / nipple-areolar rash. Note - a negative mammogram and ultrasound in the setting of a breast lump needs to be investigated further especially in the setting of dense breast tissue #checkthosebreasts #preventionisbetterthancure. #liveyourbestlife #australianbreastcarecentre #genetype
After yesterday’s momentous announcement that people with metastatic breast cancer (MBC) have finally been counted in NSW, we’re reflecting on all the work and people who’ve made it possible. The National Round Table led by BCNA in Canberra 2023 - was the catalyst for Cancer Institute NSW to go in search of a solution to the data issue. The late Peta Murphy MP (featured above) supported BCNA's roadmap to ensure all those with metastatic breast cancer are counted. For more information about the announcement click here: https://lnkd.in/gu7K7NuA We recognise the emotional weight of yesterday's announcement on those affected by breast cancer. BCNA is here to provide support and resources to help you navigate through any fears or anxieties you may be experiencing. Call BCNA’s Helpline on 1800 500 258 between Monday – Friday 9am – 5pm. #icounttoo #mbccounts #bcnapinklady

Today is secondary (metastatic) breast cancer awareness day. Research from GenesisCare UK shows that 1 in 3 people in the UK do not know what secondary breast cancer is. Do you? Secondary (metastatic) breast cancer is a cancer that has spread from the breast to other parts of the body. It is incurable but treatable, and has a devastating impact on those affected and their families. With an estimated 61,000 women and men living in the UK with this disease, and 1,000 people losing their lives to it every month, we think it needs to be talked about more and understood more. Our mission is for our community to live longer, better lives alongside secondary breast cancer. We're here to give hope to everyone affected by this disease: https://lnkd.in/ehg6TdMy #secondarybreastcancerawarenessday #secondariesonthe13th #secondarybreastcancer #livingwithsecondarybreastcancer

This Multiple Myeloma Awareness Month, let's raise awareness and honour the brave individuals living with blood cancers and remember those we've sadly lost. In Australia alone, it is estimated more than 2,600 people were diagnosed with multiple myeloma last year and significant long-term treatment side effects will impact two-thirds of those. Without the most innovative equipment, scientists cannot continue to pursue research initiatives with the potential to make ground-breaking discoveries. Breakthroughs that bring new hope to those impacted by cancer. There's still so much more we need to uncover. That's why we support projects that aim to find new and improved ways to prevent, detect and treat ALL types of cancer, including blood cancer. Donate today and together, we can fuel future research projects and help to create better outcomes for all those affected by cancer: https://bit.ly/3sf5OJO #multiplemyelomaawarenessmonth #cancerresearch #multiplemyeloma
