Corio is proud to sponsor GWEC's APAC Wind Energy Summit 2024 in Incheon, South Korea. The conference will bring together all the players in the wind energy sector in Asia Pacific to develop collaborative solutions that address the challenges and help accelerate the growth of wind energy across the region. Asia Pacific is currently the world’s largest offshore wind regional market and it is set to play a significant role in driving wind energy deployment. With more than 120 countries pledging to triple their renewable energy capacity by 2030 at COP28, the APAC Wind Energy Summit 2024 aims to drive action across the region and make this triple capacity target a reality. As one of the world's leading offshore wind developers, Corio Generation is committed to supporting the energy transition in the Asia-Pacific region. We are developing projects in established and emerging markets such as Australia, South Korea, Taiwan, Vietnam, and the Philippines. Senior Sales @ Veyt | Compliance & Voluntary Carbon, Renewable Power and Gas Guarantees of Origin, PPA's | Data, Analysis, Insights and Forecasting
PPA's are the hot 🌶 topic in the energy markets and it's exciting that Veyt are part of those conversations. https://lnkd.in/e8giabrk
We’re excited to announce the launch of our PPA modelling offering! A recent analysis by Irina Peltegova and Lisa Anna Zafoschnig on German onshore wind energy PPA reveals a significant north-south price divide by over EUR 9/MWh - influenced by geographical factors. This insight underlines the importance of location in PPA pricing and strategy. Our new solution is designed to provide stakeholders with the insights and tools necessary for informed decision-making in this evolving landscape. A deep understanding of the main PPA value drivers, and how they vary from north to south in Germany is crucial when embarking on the complex journey of PPA negotiations. 🚨 New York State Joins the Global Offshore Wind Alliance (GOWA)! 🔍 Ben Backwell, CEO of Global Wind Energy Council (GWEC) said: “The growth of the Global Offshore Wind Alliance demonstrates the vital role offshore wind plays in the energy transition and the importance of collaboration to delivering on the world’s renewable energy ambitions. The addition of the State of New York to the Alliance brings another strong voice and invaluable expertise to the group. The US offshore wind industry is a key part of the energy transition’s acceleration this decade, and we look forward to supporting the State of New York’s efforts in making their offshore wind sector an example for the rest of the world to follow” 💥 He also highlighted GWEC’s research findings: “GWEC’s research suggests the world could deliver GOWA’s target of 380 GW of offshore wind by 2030, but only with the right frameworks in place. The collaborative work of the Alliance is fundamental to establishing and expanding this framework around the world and ensuring offshore wind delivers on its potential as a key tool of the energy transition.” 💻 For more information, read the press release here: https://lnkd.in/eKQri8gt

The global offshore wind industry installed a total of 10.8 gigawatts (GW) worth of new capacity in 2023, marking the second-highest year of installations, and setting the stage for what the Global Wind Energy Council predicts could be a record-breaking decade. New figures published today by the Global Wind Energy Council (GWEC) pinned total 2023 offshore wind capacity installations at 10.8GW, up 24% on the previous year and bringing the global offshore fleet of wind power to 75.2GW.

Innovation within our industry is vital. And encouraging innovation is even more critical. The US Department of Energy, in the last few weeks, launched a funding opportunity for groups looking to conduct R&D in offshore wind and marine energy. According to the DOE’s own assessments, floating offshore wind has a potential power of 2.8 TW in the US. This is more than twice the amount of electricity currently consumed in the US! ⚡ This is a welcomed move and yet another example of how countries, like the US, are committed to delivering the energy transition and working towards its ambitious target of 30 GW of offshore wind 🌬️by 2030. #EnergyTransition #RenewableEnergy #OffshoreWind

On January 23 the European Network of Transmission System Operators for Electricity (ENTSO-E) published EU Offshore Network Development Plans (ONDPs). The ONDPs are the first comprehensive cross-border review of existing offshore grid capacity and future offshore grid requirements at sea basin level. They will help to accelerate the expansion of offshore wind and facilitate the deployment of innovative grid solutions to integrate offshore wind power into Europe’s energy system. Offshore renewables are set to become the third-most important energy source in the European power system. Building all these wind farms will require a substantial expansion of offshore grid capacity. To ensure the most efficient grid buildout possible, future grid connections should be designed at sea basin level rather than at national level. ENTSO-E present 5 different ONDPs – one each for the North Seas; the Baltic; the Atlantic Basin; the West Mediterranean; and the East Mediterranean and Black Sea. “There’s a new urgency around grids in Europe. The ONDPs are a significant step forward. They’ll help people decide how best to build out offshore grids – cost-effective and environmentally friendly. They identify existing grid bottlenecks and how to tackle them. They also inform the evolution of hybrid offshore wind farms, energy islands and other innovative ways of integrating offshore wind power into Europe’s energy system”, says WindEurope CEO Giles Dickson. #offshorewindenergy #entso #eu #crossbordergrids #regionalcooperation #offshoregrids #energytransition #offshorenetworkdevelopment #worldgrid

In 2023, the global #wind industry installed a record-breaking 117 GW of new capacity, according to a new Global Wind Energy Council (GWEC) report. This represents a 50% increase in #WindEnergy installations compared to 2022, with #China alone accounting for nearly 65% of the global total. However, despite this record-setting progress, the GWEC report underscores the urgent need for concerted policy-driven action to sustain and amplify this momentum. 👉 https://lnkd.in/d6jcjs-8
