🔌⚡ Powering Forward with clean energy for the United Kingdom. Outer Dowsing Offshore Wind, which we are developing alongside TotalEnergies and Gulf Energy Development Public Company Limited, is expected to be one of the UK’s largest offshore wind farms upon completion. The project is anticipated to generate renewable electricity equivalent to the annual electricity consumption of over 1.6 million households and will play a critical role in achieving the UK Government’s offshore wind and net zero targets. At Corio Generation, our expert team is determined to make a positive impact in bringing clean, green and reliable energy to homes across the world. 🌍 Maria Sarzea is a Senior Vice President in Corio’s Corporate Finance team, focusing on the UK and Irish markets. Her role involves providing commercial insights, valuation expertise, and supporting with financing strategies to advance Corio’s offshore wind projects. “My role allows me to help Corio progress large-scale projects that are critical for the decarbonisation of the UK and Ireland,” Maria explains. “In this highly specialised industry, it’s exciting to play a part in the overall energy transition.” Maria’s work is essential in ensuring that momentum within offshore wind development remains strong. “What I love most about my role is seeing innovative solutions created and deployed across various projects to prevent progress from stalling,” she shares. Her efforts contribute directly to delivering the renewable energy solutions needed for a sustainable future. In 2024, Maria’s commitment to her work was recognised when she was Highly Commended in the Rising Star awards category at the Tamarindo Wind Investment Awards. “It was a great experience and made me very proud about my career with Corio as well as my offshore wind track record,” Maria reflects. “It is humbling to be recognised among industry peers.” For young people considering a career in offshore wind, Maria offers thoughtful advice: “This is a complex sector that helps you build a wide range of skills and often requires creative problem-solving. It’s an exciting field to start your career in and be driven by ethical principles.” Outside of work, Maria’s passion is travelling. “I love exploring, whether it’s the hills of Scotland or far-flung destinations,” she says. A very warm welcome to Samuel Leupold, who is taking over as Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Corio Generation. Samuel shared how proud he is to take Corio through the next phase in its journey as a global offshore wind developer, and expressed his thanks and appreciation to predecessor Jonathan Cole following his successful period as CEO. “Having been part of Corio’s journey since its inception I have seen first-hand how the company has coupled impressive growth with the development of a world class team under Jonathan’s leadership,” said Samuel. “I am excited to build on these foundations and to take the company through its next phase of development and project execution.” Samuel served as Chair of Corio's Board since the company's launch in early 2022. He was previously Chairman of Wind Energy at Macquarie’s Green Investment Group and formerly CEO of Ørsted Wind Power. Kiesel is our Senior Category Manager for inter-array and export cables, looking after developing portfolio procurement strategies that maximise Corio’s access to cable manufacturing capability and capacity around the globe. Before joining Corio Generation, Mats worked for Ørsted as a Senior Business Analyst, and for Vattenfall as a Category Manager for installation logistics. Through these roles, Mats has developed into a Procurement Strategy leader with a broad experience across various offshore wind categories, leveraging critical insights and relationships with key supply chain partners to deliver our global project portfolio. “Close collaboration with the world’s top cable manufacturers, and the associated supply chains, will be critical to install our offshore wind farms on time and to the highest standards”, says Mats. “Existing and new capabilities to deliver high quality inter-array and export cables will be crucial to achieve the energy transition, and Corio works with our supply chain partners to enable the investments needed to make this a success”. At Corio Generation, our extraordinary team is determined to make a positive impact in bringing clean, green and reliable energy to homes across the world. 🌏 Alma Roxas-Aguila, MBA is Head of Philippines, responsible for overseeing the expansion of Corio Generation’s offshore wind project portfolio in this region. “My role is to ensure the successful completion of our offshore wind projects in the country,” Alma explains. Corio Generation is aiming to develop up to five offshore wind projects in the Philippines totalling 3 GW, comprising of 2 GW of fixed-bottom and 1 GW of floating wind projects, located off the coasts of Cavite, Batangas-Mindoro, IIoilo and Guimaras. Alma’s work involves navigating the complexities of developing such projects at scale, a challenge that she embraces with determination and passion. “In project development, we often encounter numerous challenges, obstacles, and setbacks, especially as pioneers in an emerging industry. We must embody great determination to drive us toward our goals and aspirations,” she says. The Philippines is looking to reach a target of 35 per cent of renewables in its energy mix by 2030 and 50 per cent by 2040. 🌏 In South Korea, Corio has signed a cooperation agreement with the National Federation of Fisheries Cooperatives (Suhyup) and the Western Busan Fisheries Committee (WBFC), in relation to our Dadaepo offshore wind project in Busan. 🤝 This agreement marks a significant step forward for the Dadaepo project, as Suhyup and WBFC represent fisheries across the region. By working together, we’re ensuring transparency and fairness with local fisheries for the development of the 96 MW fixed-bottom offshore wind project currently underway in Saha-gu, Busan. The cooperation agreement signing ceremony was recently held at the Suhyup office. The Representative of Suhyup, Seong-tae Oh, the Chairman of WBFC, Young-geon Oh, and Corio’s Development Director, Dong-jin Lee, attended the ceremony. Seong-tae Oh from Suhyup says: “Ensuring that fisheries’ opinions are actively reflected in the development of offshore wind power projects is the top priority of Suhyup. We will continue to communicate so that we can contribute to achieving the government’s carbon neutrality goal and find the optimal cooperative plan for marine environment preservation and regional development for the future generation.” Dongjin Lee, Development Director for Corio Generation, adds: “This agreement highlights the strong partnership between Corio and the fisheries community in Busan. By working together, we can achieve sustainable development that benefits both the local economy and the environment, while also contributing to South Korea’s clean energy transition.” Corio Generation is developing around 3.2 GW of offshore wind projects in South Korea across two portfolios: the BadaEnergy portfolio, in partnership with TotalEnergies and SK ecoplant, and the Busan portfolio. The Busan portfolio comprises a series of near-shore fixed-bottom offshore wind projects, aiming to supply clean energy to Busan Metropolitan City, a market with high electricity demand and a strong grid capacity. Corio Generation has today announced that Jonathan Cole has taken the decision to step down as CEO following three years of successful leadership. Samuel Leupold is to become CEO, with the change effective from 31 January 2025. Samuel Leupold has been Chair of the Board since Corio’s launch and brings over 25 years of industry experience, including as the former CEO of Ørsted Wind Power. Prior to Ørsted, Samuel held roles at ABB and McKinsey & Company specialising in utilities and industrials.
