In 2016, after nearly two decades in the automotive industry, I decided to start helping others as a career mentor & coach. Later on, when I was leading one of the biggest dealership businesses, managing 1,500 to 1,800 people. I noticed that many of them, despite their skills & abilities, didn't have clear career goals or personal growth plans. As their Boss, I had the chance to help them grow and succeed. With my experience, I knew I could guide them to make better career decisions. The Problem I Saw is, When we hired graduates from various colleges, many of them didn’t understand the automotive industry well. Our industry also faced a shortage of skilled workers because fewer people wanted to work in it. Finding and retaining good employees was a big challenge. I created a learning and performance management system and started personally mentoring employees. I helped them understand their career paths and grow within the industry. Within three years, The impact of this initiative was profound. Ten of my mentees were promoted to top-level management roles, a feat that typically takes 10-12 years. These individuals are now thriving in their careers, a testament to the power of mentorship and structured guidance. The automotive industry needs passionate and skilled professionals. Since I came from a middle-lower-class family, I was able to achieve a respectable position in industry with guidance and mentorship, Now, by mentoring and guiding, I want to inspire capable individuals to achieve desired career growth and pursue successful careers in this field. GRADUATING. YOUR. NEW. HIRES. No one achieves mastery in #onboarding and a graduation signifies that they're prepared to walk their new world alone... Want a culture of #continuouslearning? Then they can't graduate. It's contradicting the bigger strategy. Instead, get creative with celebrating a milestone achievement. At Magnet Medical, we award them with a Call Sign (yes, just like TOPGUN) on the first day of their first contract. It's a right of passage as a #sales employee and it's a big deal. They still have so much to learn, but they're officially generating revenue for the company now. When it comes to hiring, former Porsche CEO Peter Schutz said it best: 'Hire character. Train skill.' While skills can be taught, an individual's demeanor, charisma, ambition, compliance, and character are innate qualities that should be the primary focus of attention during the hiring process. The right mindset is considerably more important than having specific skills. While attitudes are viewed as unchangeable aspects of a person, abilities can always be acquired through instruction. However, there isn't a lot of evidence to back up this notion in the real world. So, when making your next hire, remember to prioritize character over skills, or alternatively, give equal weight to both skills and character. #character #skills #talent #hiring

✨Reflecting on transferrable skills as I make the transition from education to sales. Teamwork is essential to success in both education and sales organizations. However, the nature of teamwork differs between the two fields. In education, teamwork involves collaboration among superintendents, principals, teachers, and social workers to achieve a common goal of educating students. On the other hand, in sales organizations, teamwork involves collaboration among sales directors, account executives, account managers, and customer success managers to achieve a common goal of closing the sale and generating revenue. ✨According to a recent Harvard Business Review article entitled "Teamwork for Today's Selling," sales teamwork is ultimately a by-product of the organization and has to come from the top down. While people in the trenches can be team players, they need encouragement and incentives. Building trust is a crucial component of sales teamwork, as it helps to foster collaboration and communication among team members. ✨Teamwork is critical in both education and sales, but the nature of teamwork and the incentives for collaboration differ between the two fields.
