Under current regulations, doctors contracted with Medicare and Medicaid face a $10,000 penalty for each instance they charge a non-government patient substantially less than the government rate. With ~60% of uninsured patients going without needed care due to astronomical costs, is it really prudent for the government to impose a disincentive for doctors to actually offer charity care to patients?

Simple and incredibly effective, literally changing people’s lives.
Co-founder of Leon & Bramble Partners, author of the National Food Strategy, campaigner, and non-executive director.
“Hundreds of NHS patients have been prescribed fruit and vegetables by GPs in a pioneering scheme found to help them lose weight and lower blood pressure.” An excellent result. Originally recommended in the National Food Strategy - the scheme has been trialed and the results speak for themselves… Some 194 participants were given weekly £8 vouchers for them and their family, helping 672 people in total. Ninety-one per cent had multiple health conditions including obesity, depression and heart disease, while 85 per cent were unemployed. After eight months, nine in ten saw improvements in physical health and the number of GP visits among the group nearly halved. A fantastic outcome. Thank you Alexandra Rose Charity for providing this hard evidence.

⚠️A way to detect fraud or errors is to always read your Medicare statements. The #SMP offers a My Health Care Tracker to folks to write down what happens at the doctor's office so they can then compare that to their Medicare statements when they come, sometimes months later. If you see something that doesn't seem right, call your provider's office. It could have been a mistake. If you see things that you don't recognize at all, like doctors you haven't seen, be sure to report it to the SMP. Our Urgent Care Appeal is all about supporting us to provide support to those facing life-limiting illnesses. Every donation counts, it helps bring comfort and care to patients and their families facing challenging times. We are seeing more patients, and their families turn to us for support, pain management, and end-of-life care within our Hospice in Basingstoke and in homes across North Hampshire. But our funds are stretched due to the current cost of living crisis, high fuel and energy costs, and high inflation rates, combined with over 15 years of below inflation increases to our government NHS funding. These external factors beyond our control mean we expect our costs this year to be almost £600,000 more than our income. Appeals like this are crucial because they provide an opportunity for our community to come together and support their local Hospice. Support us in helping to fund the vital care we provide: https://lnkd.in/e3E3CbCn Together, we can make a meaningful impact. 💙 #UrgentCareAppeal #StMichaelsHospice

What a disservice to the people of Delaware. HB350 is not a solution.
Rarely does legislation become so troublesome that it requires such alarm. #HB350 has the potential to harm Beebe Healthcare Bayhealth ChristianaCare Trinity Health Mid-Atlantic (St. Francis), all Delaware non-profits, for-profits who'd like to innovate here, along with the #Delaware brand. We agree that #healthcare costs are out of control. HB350 is NOT the answer.

Despite the UK having “opt-out” donor 💞 laws, donor waiting lists in the UK are at an all-time high and lives are being lost because we are not talking about it! 📣 An increasing number of families are refusing to donate their loved ones' bodies. New NHS data 💹 showed that in 2023/24 the number of families refusing to donate had grown by over 76.5% from 2020/21. This is partly due to not knowing what their loved ones would have wanted. The “opt-out” laws were adopted in NHS Wales in 2015, NHS England in 2020, NHS Scotland in 2021, and Health and Social Care N. Ireland in 2023. This should have meant that if people preferred not to donate then they could register their decision via the website below 👇👇👇 NHS Organ Donation. However, families and loved ones are always consulted and there is apparently a growing reluctance to discuss death, beliefs and donating organs. Key reasons for refusal included not knowing 🤷♀️ the loved one's wishes, belief that their loved ones have suffered enough, not wanting their loved one to have surgery after dying, and the process taking too long. Even more families had specified that their loved one had expressed a wish to not donate, yet they hadn’t specifically opted out. Conversations 🤙about organ donation need to continue despite the changes in the law and perhaps because of them. Registering your wishes 👇👇👇 either way also ensures they are known. #haveaconversation #donation #organdonor #nhs #speakup
