Today is World Youth Skills Day.. A day to celebrate the importance of developing youth skills to shape our future 🌟 The statistics are clear: young people face higher unemployment rates, insecure jobs, and limited opportunities. Through opportunities such as work experience for students and apprenticeships, not only are we as an employer helping the younger generation accelerate their learning and gain invaluable experience, but we also benefit from new talent who are eager to learn. At Professional Security, we are delighted to have recently worked with QA Ltd to recruit a new Sales & Marketing Apprentice, who will be joining our Hub team in Leeds in a few weeks time. As well as this, we are exploring various training opportunities available to us to upskill our current teams. Shout out to Declan Babb for all of the support 👏 As well as our focus on apprenticeships and utilising our levy, we continue to commit our time to the EY Foundation Secure Futures programme. The security sector is evolving rapidly and I'm sure many of us in the sector can agree that is such a rewarding industry to develop a career in, however we are still failing to attract and retain talent from diverse and low socioeconomic backgrounds. The Secure Futures programme has so far enabled almost 100 young people to gain security focused employability skills, work experience and a mentorship. Providing tailored careers education, information, advice, and guidance for apprentices can be challenging. Each person's career journey is unique and can be unpredictable, deviating from a straightforward path leading to something unexpected. As part of our strategy at Pareto Apprenticeships we have a host of Careers Champions from different parts of the business and with different areas of expertise that can act as advisors (you may remember me sharing about them during NAW2024) to our staff and apprentices. As a member of the SLT team I love driving this strategy as the Careers Lead as lifelong learning is a passion of mine and after recently undertaking my PGA in Careers Leadership with Warwick University (it's awaiting moderation) it really supports driving this area. Yesterday I was lucky to meet up with the Careers Champion's for our quarterly roundtable and the energy in the room was great and ideas overflowing. I now have a huge actions list to type up of new ideas we would like to embed. As always it's great to get people in a room in person to get the ideas flowing and I love delivering sessions around a subject I am passionate about. #ceiag #apprenticeships #careersleader
