Let's talk about a job we recently placed. We know it’s hard to find a job right now and we’re committed to bringing some transparency to the process. ✍🏽 A long-time client of ours, a leader in the FinTech space, came to us looking for a freelance digital marketing copywriter for a 3-month contract out of their LA-area office. They ideally wanted someone who had written about finance and preferably someone with experience in the tech space. The catch? They needed them to start ASAP. ✍🏽 Quick overview: ▪️80 Total applications, each reviewed by an Artisan recruiter *only posted on our site for a few days* ▪️4 Qualified candidates submitted to the client ▪️2 Final round interviews ▪️1.5 Weeks of the hiring process ▪️1 Candidate hired ✍🏽 The final candidate was selected because her writing assignment was exactly what they were looking for and she had experience with Meta’s financial arm. And the most important part? Her schedule aligned with the company’s. Takeaway: Companies are still in the driver’s seat. They can set the standard for turnaround times and will inevitably find someone who matches their expectations because there are so many people job searching. #hiring #hiringprocess

Let's take a look at another wonderful job posting shall we? This was sent to me by a friend who, bless her soul, thinks I have a shot at getting into any agency where I have zero connections. But I like the optimism. :) Anyway, I thought I'd give it a read, just because after a quick glance I saw how long the required skills list was for a Sr. Copywriter role (a position I advanced from well over 15 years ago). It turns out Sr. Copywriters have a lot on their plates these days. Or do they? Take a look, check out the incredible redundancy in this list. Including one skill listed twice, which means they really, really want a copywriter who's a dab hand at Photoshop, Illustrator, Indesign, PremierePro, Dreamweaver and who knows what else. Recruiters... please take a look at the job posting and do a little editing/proofreading. If you're saying "must be able to work on a team" five different times, you're wasting time and burying actual skills. Well it's spring break in many a city, but those on the hunt for a new role are still hard at work. Which brings me to the next open Ramsey Solutions role on my list: Senior Copywriter. Here are a few highlights from the job post: ✅ Experience in a business or ad agency setting ideal. If you have experience in the financial services or investing industry, even better! ✅ Must provide a link to your digital portfolio ✅ Your work samples should include the objective you were trying to meet, the guidelines and/or best practices you considered, and how you arrived at your copywriting solution.  😂 Your perspective on the Oxford comma is highly appreciated. This is how I hired myself, created my experience, and got my first remote job in 4 weeks 🙃 I have always wanted to experience the digital nomad lifestyle as soon as I learned something like that exists. I started learning creative writing during my internship (Estate Management and Valuation) with the help of the marketing manager Vision Heritage Management and Logistics Ltd. I saw it was a sure way to connect people to your product and services. Also, to reach a wider audience. I started to volunteer. I wrote many different types of copies even though it wasn't part of my job. Experience created successfully.! I continued learning from Freebies (emails, webinars, online courses, YouTube, and so on). By then, already created a LinkedIn account (the profile looked wacky) Then, I saw a job post that read "HIRING FREELANCE COPYWRITER". I wasn't sure if I was fit to be known as a copywriter because I was still learning 😅. With doubts about being selected, I tried my luck. BOOM 💥 I got an email from the #hr with a document containing the hiring process and a full description of the job. At first, it looked like a scam until I responded to the email, and the same he replied. Then I believed! While I was happy to get the job, I was afraid that I was going to lose it soon. Why? I had no idea how to write product reviews and descriptions. I haven't done that before. Thankfully, I was given a test as signment with guides. Before my first copy was accepted, it was criticized so many times by my chief editor. Corrections upon corrections were given. Soon, I learned the job perfectly 🥰. Lesson: I was trustful about my little experience. I humbled myself and paid close attention to the job's description and my chief editor's guidelines. Sometimes, it's not always about the experience or how superb you are. You need to pay quality attention!
