This story has really captured the hearts & minds of people near & far. A beautifully simple story in so many respects, but also an embodiment of what community regeneration means: connection, revival, action & hope. https://lnkd.in/exnn6ubk

In today's fast-paced and often isolating world, it's easy to feel disconnected from those around us. But community is more than just a nice-to-have - it's a vital necessity for our well-being and happiness. In recent times, we've faced unprecedented challenges such as the COVID-19 pandemic, economic uncertainty, and social isolation. Amidst these challenges, it's more important than ever to have a strong sense of community to turn to. Community provides us with a sense of belonging, support and connection. It gives us a platform to share our experiences, learn from others, and find comfort in times of need. When we're part of a community, we feel seen, heard, and valued. Moreover, community has the power to bring people together, foster empathy and understanding, and create positive change in our lives and the world around us. So let's prioritise community building and nurturing the connections that make us stronger. Let's come together, support each other, and build a brighter future for all. Join us in celebrating the importance of community and let's make a difference!
The Newtown Community Association serves the extended community around Belmont Park, Newtown in Exeter. They aim to connect with people in Exeter and surrounding areas through events and activities. Their community centre offers function rooms for corporate and private hire, suitable for meetings, celebrations, and personal activities. The association invites people to join and be part of their vibrant community.

Trainer, Facilitator and Speaker 🎤 Guiding people to Govern, Fund and Manage their organisations ⭐️ ✅ Author - 'Win the Grant' 💰 Collaborator at heart! Multi-award winning Entrepreneur 🏆 CEO: NFP Guide
Tonight is a big night for the Dubbo Community. Last year I was approached by a local businessman, Steven Wilson (pictured). Steve came to me with an idea. He wanted to do something that contributed positively, and supported vulnerable people in our community to access opportunities. He developed this concept across 110 acres of land he owns and wanted to invite the community to use the land. Fast-forward to tonight and we're holding our first public meeting to formally invite the community to share their needs and ideas. As anyone in the community development and grants space know, when there's a huge need in the community that's 'hidden' because organisations aren't able to advocate or co-ordinate themselves for advocacy they often just put up with the status quo. The flow-on effect is that they're restricting services to the community, other services go out of town, people travel out of town for recreation purposes that should be available and it reduces a communities liveability. Then we have social issues, which in part, are symptoms of this (lack of services, opportunities etc.). Our team is honoured to lead this project. It's the first community led precinct example I can find in Australia. However, if you know of other examples pls share. For those interested in coming tonight, you can find out more and register here: https://lnkd.in/g6kzadsj #communitydevelopment #precinct #not-for-profits #buildingcommunity

Draft for a Statement of Human Obligation* - A Fall workshop on Mise en scène - the 'setting' of what makes a good neighborhood**. *(Inspired by Simone Weil, French philosopher. PBS.org. Other Voices ) ** (Inspired by the West Fullerton Civic Engagement work of Dr. Robert Emry and Owen Holmes of Cal State Fullerton funded by the California Stories project, League of Women Voters entitled Hope & Civic Renewal) Long post warning: The human soul has need of both personal property and collective property. Personal property never consists in the possession of a sum of money, but in the ownership of concrete objects like a house, a field, furniture, tools, which seem to the soul to be an extension of itself and of the body. Justice requires that personal property, in this sense, should be, like liberty, inalienable. Collective property is not defined by a legal title but by the feeling among members of a human milieu that certain objects are like an extension or development of the milieu. This feeling is only possible in certain objective conditions. - Simone Weil, French philosopher. Workshop dates and sign-up links coming soon. Two hour sessions with 10-15 people using Grove graphic facilitations methodology and community building & problem solving. Where you live is situated IN a neighborhood.

As a Community Development Financial Institutions Fund (CDFI Fund), we are able to partner with banks to provide capital not only to for-profit businesses, but also to nonprofit agencies. This video from Pinnacle Financial Partners shows an example of the positive impacts these partnerships can have upon a community. #banking #communitybanking #cdfi #economicdevelopment
We want to thank Pinnacle Financial Partners (PNFP) for supporting us in our role as a Community Development Financial Institutions Fund (CDFI Fund) . As a CDFI, our mission goals include promoting community development, and one of the ways to accomplish this is by providing capital to programs that positively impact their local community. In our hometown, Big Brothers Big Sisters of Greater Chattanooga, is one of those programs. Through our partnership with PNFP, we were able to provide capital to support the expansion of this program’s facility. The completed renovation provides a learning lab, training room, an outdoor space for program participants, and more offices to accommodate a growing staff. #CDFI #banking #communitydevelopment #nonprofit #economicdevelopment

Before you started your non-profit organization or program, did you assess whether its purpose grew out of what was indeed a measurable problem? It is honestly the first step in being sustainable. Have you heard about our unique Matching Fund model and how it works to empower communities? Through the Matching Fund model, also known as Pamoja4 Change, KCDF partners with communities through CBOs and CSOs to actualize their ideas for community development. Communities raise 50% of their project costs (in-cash or in-kind), while KCDF matches the other 50%, hence the name, Matching Fund. This model develops community ownership in projects and helps them to thrive and become self-sustaining. SATURDAY MORNING (JANUARY 27TH) at 9:00 AM our amazing Who I Am Foundation volunteers in #Phoenix will be cleaning up the community once again! For this Community Clean-Up (PHX) our volunteers will be meeting up at SUNNYSLOPE COMMUNITY CENTER, located at 802 E. Vogel Ave, Phoenix, AZ! NO OPEN-TOED SHOES Cleaning up loose trash is one of the best ways to pitch in for your community and the environment. Volunteering as a means to help conserve and protect the environment has a lot of upsides. Of course, the first is that you’ll be taking care of our planet, and it badly needs a little love given the myriad ways in which we’ve become adept at destroying it. But beyond that, volunteering for a cause you care about is a great way to meet like-minded people, make friends, and pull yourself out of the blues that sometimes accompany caring a lot about something important – especially if you feel alone in your endeavors. None of us like the sight of litter. Litter spoils the look of where we live but that’s not the only reason for picking up litter. There are a number of benefits from picking up litter that you may not have considered before. Volunteer-led projects such as these are one of the quickest, simplest, and least expensive ways to inspire more community spirit and civic action. A visually appealing community increases property values, attracts businesses, and improves the neighborhood's image. Beauty is one of the three most influential factors in community attachment, which means loyalty, to your particular town or city. Some research even shows that a nice-looking neighborhood promotes good behavior. Join us in keeping your community clean! For more information: https://lnkd.in/gMJBjG6K #TeamWhoIAm_Phoenix

Creating fundraising ease for social justice nonprofits | Mentor | Free tools at communitygrantwriters.us – so much more than grants!
Nonprofits don't have a lot of resources. Budgets are tight. This week, I'll share some free resources to help. Reach out to your local community foundation. Council on Foundations has a great map at https://lnkd.in/gCHmqFv9, and there is almost certainly one in your region. Then, introduce yourself. Look on your community foundation's website for an online form for nonprofits. (Use their search option, if it's not obvious.) Learn the name of their program officer who oversees work that is similar to yours. If you can, send a well-written email BRIEFLY describing your work and impact. Ask for a BRIEF meeting by Zoom or phone so you can learn more about resources listed on their website for nonprofits like yours. Be specific about how they can help. Be thorough in looking over their website before you contact them. #nonprofit #fundraising
