It was a thrill for The Clean Fight to be invited to participate in the Breakthrough Energy Summit in London last week. To be with 1200 like-minded individuals, laser focused on how we can scale up high-impact climate solutions. Some of our observations: 👉 The convening power was incredible, with all roads leading to action. Innovators, corporate leaders, investors, philanthropists, government, not-for-profits, all sharing what's working, what's not, being honest about the journey, asking for help. 👉 Spaces matter. Getting people out of their day-to-day, into an inspiring place where they have the mental time and space to think, explore, engage, is priceless. Asking for two days of people's time is no joke. Everyone showed up. Cell phones in sessions were surprisingly rare. The Building Grand Challenge Track got to visit the Tower Bridge Court carbon neutral building (FORE Partnership) which is an inspiring testament to what you can achieve with optimism and persistence. 👉 Realistic but un-jaded. No one was pulling any punches, but optimism reigned. Was wonderful to see the Honorable Rachel Jacobson Chief Sustainability Officer for the Army discussing their plans to decarbonise the army's 200,000 (yes 200,000) buildings and looking for solutions. Eric Toone brilliantly dissecting the technologies we have and those we still need. John Kerry and Kerstin Jorna discussing the policy path forward. Thank you to Nishant B. for the invite and curating a fantastic buildings track. And wonderful to spend real time with many of our US cohort companies and partners - sometimes you just need to leave NY to connect with your friends from home CarbonCure Technologies, enVerid Systems, Inc., 75F, Blue Frontier, Inc., Aeroseal and our customer collaborators Helen Gurfel, Jonathan Flaherty, Jim Barrett, Julia Gisewite, LEED AP, WELL AP.
