I cannot tell you how thrilled I am to be a part of Bay Path University and Cambridge College. Today is a transformational day for all of us here. I am incredibly proud of our fidelity to our missions, our commitment to the communities we serve, our teammates, and our impact on higher education. #StrongerTogether I am also grateful for you, Sandra J. Doran, Michael Giampietro, Kathleen Bourque, Natalia Blank, PhD, Stephen Healey, Niti Seth, Dennis J. Madigan, CMA, our Board of Trustees, and the rest of the teams that trusted me to lead Phase 1 of the acquisition. We did it! Special kudos to the Phase 1 project team; I am a better professional for working with you: Jeremy Anderson, Jessica Sabbagh (rock star), Brittany Riley, MBA, and Susan Poglinco, PhD (and the Core team). I am even more grateful for the continued confidence in me and our super-talented project team as we lead the next phase of this process: Tracy McLaughlin, Shirley Montovani, Madison McGrath, Jonathan Besse, and Susan Poglinco, PhD. Thank you for being tremendous partners, thought leaders, and accountability partners. I am super excited about the work ahead. Collectively, we will think holistically about what it means to serve students, how to continue to make a profound and lasting impact in our communities, and how to transform ourselves and our organization. #BayPathUniversityProud. #CambridgeCollegeProud. #Transformation.
Today, July 1, 2024, is a milestone! As we announce the official closing date of Bay Path University’s acquisition of Cambridge College, we mark this date as joining two like-minded institutions. Building on our common mission of providing innovative and accessible education to students from diverse backgrounds, working adults, and first-generation learners, this powerful alliance will enhance our academic community and broaden our students' educational horizons and career opportunities. To commemorate this momentous event, we have prepared a special video that captures the essence of this new chapter in our journey forward.

In recent times, I’ve engaged in enlightening discussions with trustee friends from various colleges and universities. A recurring theme in these conversations has been the pivotal role that Alumni Associations play in assessing and influencing university governance. Notably, recent studies have identified 15 instances in which Alumni Associations initiated a No Vote of Confidence against university leadership. Impressively, 11 of these motions led to constructive changes that realigned the institutions with the expectations and standards envisioned by their communities. This information highlights the significant impact that informed and proactive alumni can have in advocating for excellence and accountability at the highest levels of university administration. As stewards of our institution’s legacy, it is imperative that we consider how we might effectively participate in or influence these governance processes to ensure they meet and maintain the highest standards and integrity. A sleeping giant has be awakened.

Just concluded off our first day of the FGLI Consortium Conference at Princeton University with Christina Rose, Ed.D. and Barbara Hall! Tonight's keynote featured Dr. Anthony Abraham Jack, the inaugural faculty director of the Newbury Center and associate professor of higher education leadership at Boston University. Dr. Jack is widely known for his research documenting the diversity among lower-income undergraduates and is author of "The Privileged Poor" and "Class Dismissed". Some takeaways from Dr. Jack's talk that stuck out to me, -How do we institutionalize support structures and resources for lower-income undergraduates? -What are the consequences that institutions face when ignoring the challenges lower-income students experience? Can we really say that we, the institution are fulfilling our goal of preparing ALL of our students for success post-graduation? -"Remove the individual and focus on a campus-wide cultural shift" More often than not, there is usually an individual or office working to creating and enhancing programming and resources to support students. What would happen if we had every office on campus helping out by putting something together as it applies in their respective work? Looking forward to engaging in thoughtful conversations and learning from others on how we continue to build on this work and support our students! #FGLIConsortium #FLI #firstgen #bettertogether

Enjoyed speaking as part of the panel for Times Higher Education Live in Birmingham today about our Flexible Learning Future Generations strategy at Cardiff University / Prifysgol Caerdydd. So pleased we have committed to be part of the UALL Universities Association for Lifelong Learning project with CarringtonCrisp because it was great to meet fellow panel members Jonathan Michie, Professor Ang Davies and Leila Guerra. Lots of similar experiences and great learning to share.
