Although there is still a long way to go in terms of workplace gender equality, an important milestone was reached as the doors closed on 2023. For the first time, in the US there were more women CEOs than male ones called John. Don't get too excited, we are specifically talking about females (who represent over 50% of the population) versus men called John (representing just over 3%), but nevertheless, it is a breakthrough that shows steps are being taken to reduce the gap. As we near the end of Women’s History Month, it’s important to note that making progress toward gender equity doesn’t stop on March 31st. New research from The Muse finds that although there are more women working, women still face barriers and biases throughout the workplace, starting in the hiring process and persisting through advancement into the C-suite. Interestingly, the research found some regional differences in women’s experiences at work. Women in the Southeast US were much more likely to say they’ve faced inappropriate interview questions and experienced discrimination in the interview process. Living in the Southeast, yeah, this tracks. There was some good news in the research though—about 2/3 of women in the survey reported that they feel supported at work. Definitely worth a read and exploring the findings in more detail below so we can keep building more equitable workplaces for women—and everyone—now and into the future of work. #FutureOfWork #WomenAtWork #GenderBias #WomensHistoryMonth https://lnkd.in/gDu3qGNP

Friday marks International Women's Day 2024, when every single one of us can celebrate the contributions and successes of women all around the world. This is an important day to mark the progress that has been made over the years for gender equality. As outlined in the latest FTSE Women Leaders Review (attached) there has been brilliant progress in some areas e.g. the number of women board members in the FTSE 350 has grown from 9.5% in 2011 to 42% today. But there is work still to be done: the number of women CEOs in the FTSE 350 has increased by only 6 since 2011 – i.e.: 15 women CEOs in 2011 and 21 women CEOs today. This year’s theme of ““Invest in Women: Accelerate progress”” could not be more pertinent. Research continues to prove that diverse leadership teams are more able to be innovative, commercially effective, and successfully address complex challenges. At Kynigos Partners, while we have seen significant progress in women's representation among senior executive and leadership roles, there remains a strong imperative for organisations to continue to recruit, support and retain existing and upcoming female talent. So, as we celebrate this International Women's Day it would be fantastic if we could all commit to work together to develop a more inclusive working world; by supporting, collaborating, mentoring, advocating, and leading change and therefore creating a pipeline of talented women who can fulfil their potential, and contribute meaningfully to organisations and communities. In the meantime, a top tip for women on the eve of International Women's Day 2024 … Only when you make yourself visible can a Headhunter see you! Create or update your LinkedIn profile, and make sure it truly represents who you are and the value you bring. Then Headhunters can find you and be a great ally in helping you progress your career! #InspireInclusion #InvestinWomen #InternationalWomensDay #IWD2024 #headhunters can help

International Women’s Day is a time for reflection on the progress made in fostering gender equality in the workplace, but it is also a time for organizations to recognize the work that still lies ahead. Despite various initiatives from both government and businesses to hire more senior women, the representation of women in executive roles remains disproportionately low. In our recent article, we explore what companies must do to empower women and enhance their representation in leadership roles through talent pipelining. Russell Reynolds Associates published recently a look at gender in the board room. Here are some main takeaways: "When it comes to gender parity, 2023 saw progress—but not enough of it. While last year saw the joint (with 2022) highest recorded proportion of women CEOs appointed to the world’s leading indices, this number was only 12%. Of the people appointed to lead global companies, just 22 were women, as opposed to 156 men. Whichever way you look at it, we are a long way from true gender balance at the top. Indeed, our research shows public companies are 81 years from gender parity in CEO appointments". thanks to Laura Sanderson Stephen Langton Marie-Osmonde Le Roy de Lanauze-Molines Luke Meynell Jack (Rusty) O'Kelley for sharing your insights! https://lnkd.in/d5synZQw

The forward momentum of gender diversity on U.S. corporate boards appears to be slowing in 2024, according to a new report from 50/50 Women on Boards. At the current rate, gender parity and 20% women of color representation on boards won’t occur until 2045. #humanresources #hr #genderdiversity #boardsofdirectors
