Mercurial tech titan Elon Musk says SpaceX headquarters is moving to Texas from California, attacking Golden State Gov. Gavin Newsom for policies that Musk says are “attacking both families and companies.” The space exploration and rocket company will move its headquarters to Boca Chica, Texas, which Musk refers to as Starbase, the company’s CEO posted Tuesday on X, the social media platform formerly known as Twitter. Space X-tasy “After Elon Musk arrived an hour late to an all-hands meeting at SpaceX - rambling and slurring his words for 15 minutes before the meeting was taken over by the spacecraft manufacturer's president - executives of the company worried if Musk was on drugs. Musk was unusually incoherent when he took the stage in front of his SpaceX employees to discuss the development of the company's Big Falcon Rocket prototype, with one executive describing the event as ‘nonsensical,’ ‘unhinged,’ and ‘cringeworthy.’“ My New Year resolution was to ONLY post about Musk when he’s at his MOST egregiously dangerous. IMHO the leader of companies, which take billions in military and infrastructure contracts from our government, being a junkie qualifies. Musk's extensive drug use, “which includes LSD, cocaine, ecstasy, and ketamine, according to people familiar with the matter,” is at the center of a bigly new report from The Wall Street Journal detailing how “executives at several of the billionaire's companies have struggled to manage his substance use and erratic behavior.” After he smoked pot on Joe Rogan’s podcast, NASA - National Aeronautics and Space Administration insisted on $5 million in drug training for Space X employees. “His alleged drug use has also caused frustration among executives in his other companies, including former Tesla director Linda Johnson Rice, who became so concerned about his drug use that she did not seek reelection at the company.” Musk has lied about the safety and capacity of Tesla’s cars. He’s illegally posted on social media, costing Tesla $40 mil in SEC fines. He bought Twitter while stranded down a K-Hole (Google it). And now he’s stumbling through presentations about billion dollar rockets, paid for by American Taxpayers, while higher than Dudley Moore in Arthur. We didn’t see Howard Hughes descent into insanity in real time. But something tells me Musk is worse. Yet, despite knowing this, our government - NASA, The Pentagon, The Department of Transportation - serves as the financial backbone of Musk’s empire. It’s bad if a social media platform’s owner is a drug-addled fascist. But we can avoid using it and advertising on it. It’s another thing to have our global satellite system, our nation’s electric car infrastructure, and our entire space program reliant on a unhinged nepobaby with a Ketamine addiction and a penchant for Bond Villain cosplay. So, I DO promise to ONLY post about him when it’s actually important. AS LONG AS NASA, the United States Department of Defense, and the U.S. Department of Transportation promise to join twelve-step programs to address their addiction to snorting Musk. I'm sure my home state of Texas would love for SpaceX to increase its investment in jobs and other opportunities in Texas. But I'd be cautious about inferring that such an investment is going to occur simply because of SpaceX's reincorporation in Texas (as announced this week). Musk's decision to switch incorporation for SpaceX from Delaware to Texas is grounded in the Delaware Court of Chancery's decision to nullify Musk's pay package for *Tesla*--but Tesla isn't moving its Delaware incorporation and can't move it without that move's being approved by Tesla shareholders. Will the state-of-incorporation move mean SpaceX will invest in more jobs and facilities in Texas? It's not impossible--Texas has plenty of aerospace talent. But two factors should pre-empt any early rejoicing in Texas about new SpaceX investment. First, SpaceX already homes its testing of launch vehicles, engines, and other systems in McGregor, Texas--and was able to do so even without being incorporated in the state. Second, the state of California, which is where SpaceX designs its launch vehicles and other systems (in the city of Hayworth), *also* has a ton of aerospace talent. California is also home to Vandenberg Air Force Base, one of the launch sites for SpaceX missions. (The company also has a launch site and launch support site at Cape Canaveral and Kennedy Space Center, respectively, in Florida.) Given SpaceX's extraordinary success in the earth-to-orbit marketplace and given its current physical plant, it's by no means clear that reincorporation in Texas (and corporate "departure" from Delaware) will mean more investment in Texas than the company has already planned. If there are SpaceX facilities in Delaware, other than the lawyers who have handled SpaceX incorporation-related functions in Wilmington, they're unmentioned on the company's website.

Don't be stupid. SpaceX were… until they weren't. If there's $6M falling from the sky, wouldn't you go get it? Said Musk, and the engineers raced to drawing boards. To catch returning fairings, they came up with these netships. Caught a few of them. 1️⃣ Tomorrow, approx $10B is falling… Or isn't? … ❌ Nah, not this ending 😂😂😂 2️⃣ Then dropped it. Why? It's easier than you think. The fairings would simply float. No need for fancy gear. Just go, pick it up from the ocean. This is an anecdotal story, Kiko Dontchev brought in his Summit talk. When SpaceX do innovation, they follow a recipe: "First principles approach". 1. Make the requirements less dumb. 2. Delete the part or process step. 3. Optimize. 4. Accelerate. 5. Automate. The take away from it is to challenge requirements. Stop ticking boxes because you're conditioned to. Not every problem is worth solving. The story is from 2021, but maybe you missed. Supplying Contract Procurement Teams for Owner’s Teams of Australian Mining Projects (>$100M). Get the resources, frameworks & technology needed to rapidly deliver & execute the “tender to contract completion process"
Focus on a single metric helped this chief engineer turn his start-up into a US$180B company. Love him or hate him, Elon Musk has got this dialed in. Get your team focused on a simple metric, and the rest will follow. Elon's company, Space X, where he is the "Chief Engineer," focuses on a core metric (a North Star - pun intended!) 𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐌𝐞𝐭𝐫𝐢𝐜: "Cost to launch one pound of payload into orbit." 𝐇𝐨𝐰 𝐡𝐞 𝐝𝐢𝐝 𝐢𝐭: Faced with the colossal challenge of reducing space launch costs, Musk’s secret wasn’t an endless budget or cutting-edge technology alone. It was an unwavering focus on one metric: "Cost to launch one pound of payload into orbit." Every innovation, every design change, and every strategic decision was measured against this benchmark. 𝐖𝐡𝐲 𝐢𝐭 𝐰𝐨𝐫𝐤𝐞𝐝: Each team member at SpaceX, from engineers to project managers, internalized this metric. This ensured a unified direction and relentless pursuit of efficiency, leading to breakthroughs like reusable rockets and optimized engine designs. 𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐑𝐞𝐬𝐮𝐥𝐭𝐬: Space X is now the industry leader (hands down) because their cost per kg is a fraction of what it usually costs. What's your North Star Metric to align your team and drive relentless innovation? #innovation #focus #northstarmetric

Every , student, engineer, designer, manager, or technician, etc. should understand the significance of what SpaceX has done with this rocket engine evolution. Its not simple nor common but should be at the foundation of Americas' innovative heart. Mr. Musk's saying of "the best part is no part" should be taught as an entire course in engineering. Xirro, LLC has taken this to heart in everything we do and are applying this principal to helping to rewrite technology for the off-highway industry. #innovation #engineering #onlyfluidpowercan
