Take the wheel. Join Burial as our first ever Head of Hospitality. We have been growing. You’ve seen the flashing imagery. Breweries, divy taprooms, exhibit halls, historical restaurants, music clubs, and even wine bars now. What we have become, is always who we were. It just took some time to draw the picture. Our values haven’t changed. Our vision to host immersive experiences remains. Our faces remain stoic when we have stuff on our minds. And sometimes, yes sometimes, they break free from thought just long enough to smile. We hope to find someone out there who feels the same. Burial is looking for a Head of Hospitality to build and curate our retail world. We are looking for someone steeped deep in the elevation of service and the sharing of craft. Another storyteller for our team to count on. So if you know a human willing, we want to hear from you. Job scope, core competencies, and more are available here: https://lnkd.in/dQmzmTA7. Spread the gospel.

Hotel Manager | Boutique Luxury & Lifestyle | '23 Rising Leaders Award - Global Hospitality Magazine | Global Hospitality Award Winner | Global Top 20 Hospitality Executives to Watch in '22
Just a thought. An important one. One which I question. A hospitality colleague of mine asked me a question today after being told they lost an opportunity to someone that had years ahead of them. Why are the corporate folks afraid of hiring "first time" anything? "Why do corporate folks celebrate a facade of growing people when they constantly after each posting, post for executive property level positions, such as GM, AGM, DOO, they hire people who have had those jobs for 5-10-15 years?" "Have the area and regional managers become complacent, overwhelmed, overworked that they pretend there are no future generations that they can bet on?" "Why can not I not become the next best thing for this organization given my track record and commitment?" So the question I begin to ask, when is it time? When is it time to grow the next generation? When is it the next time to grow the next general manager? When is is the next time to bet on the next guy? I simply answered, "I do not know". Is it easier to hire someone with so much experience that the thought of someone with new ideas and perspectives is irrelevant? #realitycheck #opportunity #hardwork #Hotellife #Hotels #BeReal #Giveachance #bet #on #somebody #lazy

Fractional Talent Management Senior Executive | Employee Experience Design | Organisational Psychologist | Two Published Books
Hoteliers, The "I am looking for someone with the brand experience" is equivalent to "We require 75 years of experience, a masters degree and a PhD for this role (Sales & Marketing Director)." A friend of mine was declined an Ops manager role because of "No brand experience". Dude, I have worked with over 10 brands; opening, operation, re-branding, eco, midscale, luxury, lifestyle you name it. You take any brand, sit down for a day and there you know it. Anyone can learn about any brand within a day so, can we please leave this nonsense in the past especially when you are struggling with talent?? I love it when hoteliers present their brand "Here, our glass of water is carried by nuns, blessed by organic air, and served by the finest people you find in the industry." We all know it is not true, right? It is a glass of water served like anywhere else. Every hotel is the same, you learn the brand and adapt. Stop the inbreeding and the narrow mindedness! #hospitality #hospitalityindustry #brand

When I'm selecting staff in the position of SUPERVISOR, ASSISTANT MANAGER or MANAGER usually i tend to delve into the profiles of those who really started from the bottom and are capable of tackling the restaurant sector with patience and determination. If normally the hierarchical pyramid of the restaurant staff foh is commis waiter, waiter, senior waiter, head waiter, normally spending a minimum of two years in the role before getting a promotion, only "if deserved" , I wonder how you manage to have already held a position at 25yo role of Supervisor or ass Manager? There are two things, either the CV is fake or someone unprofessionally recommended you and covered your back. Having said this, it is clear that in a dysfunctional context where there is no experience and maturity necessary in a Leadership role, you risk burning out a talented young person, subjecting your senior staff with a lower position to greater workloads and stress and embarrassing situations where they have to coach an employee to a higher level, and wear out your job. Many people are recruited or promoted into Leadership position without understanding the fundamental philosophy of leadership. One must remember that the talents that make a person successful in a previous non - leadership role are rarely the same ones that will make them excel as leaders. This is why we have many companies - restaurants grossly over managed and severly under led. The recruitment process is fundamental to evaluate after the skills and experience of the candidate, the maturity, work ethic, integrity, emotional intelligence, loyality and respect for the others employee positions gained with ages of service. When you are a leader you re no longer responsible for doing the job, you are responsible for inspiring, coaching, mentoring and motivating your team to become the very best version of themselves which will help them produce their best work. It's all about Leadership, it's all about People. You get the right people, you get the right behavior and the right environment. #hr #jobseeker #cv #recruitment #experience #senior #career #development #hospitality #qualify #leader #leadership #growth #loyal #company #managment #manager #supervisor #position #merit #meritocracy #hotel #hotellerie #quotes #linkedin #post
