Proper screening is sooooo.. important.
When I'm selecting staff in the position of SUPERVISOR, ASSISTANT MANAGER or MANAGER usually i tend to delve into the profiles of those who really started from the bottom and are capable of tackling the restaurant sector with patience and determination. If normally the hierarchical pyramid of the restaurant staff foh is commis waiter, waiter, senior waiter, head waiter, normally spending a minimum of two years in the role before getting a promotion, only "if deserved" , I wonder how you manage to have already held a position at 25yo role of Supervisor or ass Manager? There are two things, either the CV is fake or someone unprofessionally recommended you and covered your back. Having said this, it is clear that in a dysfunctional context where there is no experience and maturity necessary in a Leadership role, you risk burning out a talented young person, subjecting your senior staff with a lower position to greater workloads and stress and embarrassing situations where they have to coach an employee to a higher level, and wear out your job. Many people are recruited or promoted into Leadership position without understanding the fundamental philosophy of leadership. One must remember that the talents that make a person successful in a previous non - leadership role are rarely the same ones that will make them excel as leaders. This is why we have many companies - restaurants grossly over managed and severly under led. The recruitment process is fundamental to evaluate after the skills and experience of the candidate, the maturity, work ethic, integrity, emotional intelligence, loyality and respect for the others employee positions gained with ages of service. When you are a leader you re no longer responsible for doing the job, you are responsible for inspiring, coaching, mentoring and motivating your team to become the very best version of themselves which will help them produce their best work. It's all about Leadership, it's all about People. You get the right people, you get the right behavior and the right environment. #hr #jobseeker #cv #recruitment #experience #senior #career #development #hospitality #qualify #leader #leadership #growth #loyal #company #managment #manager #supervisor #position #merit #meritocracy #hotel #hotellerie #quotes #linkedin #post

Case study: Restaurant General Manager Success Story: how we found the perfect General Manager The goal: Our main aim was to nab a General Manager who totally gets the clients restaurant's vibe and can lead the crew to victory. You know, someone who's all about people, the food, and giving guests the time of their lives. The challenge: Building a top-notch management team – General Manager, Deputy General Manager, and Assistant Manager. The team had potential, but they needed a confident, caring captain to steer the ship. The game plan: Here's how we tackled it: We stayed in the loop with the clients Recruitment and Operations Managers to really get what they were after. We dug into our huge database and picked out candidates who matched up: close to the site, loads of management experience, spoke Spanish, and a mix of big brand and indie restaurant backgrounds. But we didn't stop there! We got creative – ads went up, we kicked off some LinkedIn action, and scoured other job boards to find even more rockstars. We had a good chat with these amazing candidates, pulling out their standout achievements and what makes them tick. We made sure they'd slide right into our client’s world. The big win: Guess what? The very first candidate we showed them was spot on for the General Manager role! **disclaimer this is an anomaly but sometimes we get it right first time! And guess what else? They said yes just a little over 2 weeks after we started the hunt. In those first 10 days, we sent 7 General Manager contenders. Across all positions, we reached out to 13 folks we thought would shine. Interviews for the junior management crew are right around the corner... Max Wagner COREcruitment Ltd https://lnkd.in/e_8GxV-7
